The bar closes at 9:30 dispute guests being there...the shift had finished! No coffee in rooms, beds only just ok , springs very evident.Shame because it could be so much better.Will say they did a good breakfast but no staff to clear plates away ! Little touches make a big difference Rooms: Ok but beds need replacing as does linen, grey rather than white
Having stayed here for 4 nights I can say I will not be returning. The beds are very uncomfortable and the mattresses seem cheap very springy. The food and drink is massively over priced and the staff don't seem very helpful. No central heating in the room, and I quote we do not turn it on for one person. Will not be returning again.Rooms: 2/5
I attended a wedding and the prices for the drinks were just made up. Many of the guests complained about this at the time but nothing was done. Some people were being charged £14 whereas others were being charged £32 for the same drinks. I wrote them an email complaining about this and they replied back saying no one else has complained and they can’t find any proof. However, in these reviews you can see someone else has complained about the exact same thing and the response from the hotel was copied and pasted for the both of us. Absolutely ridiculous and I do not recommend booking with this hotel.
Made up prices as they went along whilst I was at a wedding. I bought 3 beers that came to £10 then bought another 3 of the same beers a few minutes later and it came to £24! They assured me the prices were correct tho! Everyone had this problem all night.Rooms: 1/5
No hot water from the time I arrived until the time I left; when they thought they had fixed it they called my room at 11:30 to let me know, waking me up and there was still no hot water.. The shower didn't actually function properly as most of the water still came from the tap when you turned it on... Car park was full and I had to park across the entrance after taking instruction from the front desk. Once I'd put my bags away and say down to do some work a member of staff challenged me on my parking location and then apologised when I said I was told to park there. Heating didn't work at all and the room was freezing. All the beers were either off/run out or absolutely awful; the pipes can't have been cleaned for a long time. Staff were clearly trying but unsupported/not properly trained. An absolute shameful excuse for a hotel; avoid at all costs.
Nice hotel - good for work travel. I first visited this hotel some time ago when I was running a training course in the area. Nice rooms, good food and friendly staff. Ash is most welcoming and accommodating, making sure everything is OK for the guests. Would recommend. Food & drinks: Good food, varied and good value. Noteworthy details: A good hotel to stay at if on work trips.
Arrived at 9pm and was told we were too late for food, so we ordered a pizza from a local delivery company. The staff got really arsey about us eating our pizza in the building and we ended up having a full blown argument before we could eat our dinner. The place was deserted and the bar shut early 10pm. Bar staff were also hostile and we were made to feel quite unwelcome. The room was noisey, with noise from outside and from neighbouring rooms as the walls are very thin. The room decor was very tired and the bed was worn out, lumpy, the springs were knackered and squeaky. I had a terrible night's sleep. All in all a really poor hotel, but not dissimilar to experiences I've had at other Mercure hotels. They're all pretty poor, and to be avoided where possible.
We held my father’s wake here. The service was excellent, as was the food. I’m very pleased with everything involved with the event and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to hold a wake close to the crematorium. Food & drinks: Excellent homemade cakes, scones etc. One relation said the scones were of Women’s Institute standard!
Staying here at the minute and read some of the reviews either these managers have made a lot of changes or the reviewers we very harsh .had no problem having a hot powerful shower and the room is clean and nice at this price you will be struggling to find better..friendly staffing will stop again definitelyRooms: 4/5
Ash the manager was very accommodating and very well spoken towards myself, and treated me with respect and had done everything that I questioned or had asked him about. Also with the accommodating off the hotel the bar staff that was all working for the dinners and the breakfast staff in the morning and very helpful the food was really nice.
