Coffee is bang average. Food is decent. Staff are really not great at all. The design and atmosphere of the cafe are brilliant, really stylish & nice place to spend time in and meet people. It's just everything else that lets it down! If they got in a couple of good, smiley Baristas & a decent cooked breakfast it would revolutionise the place.

Refreshing to see an independent coffee house in this area of Edinburgh so for that alone I love it and want to give it my custom to make sure it stays that’s why I gave it 5 stars. Great coffee on offer and a lot of decent pre-prepared food available but I want this place to be so much better as its right on my doorstep.  Fantastic place to grab a coffee if you’re on the run but it hasn’t been that great when I’ve sat in. Other than the soup, the food selection isn’t that great in terms of freshly prepared dishes and the large room seems to be a little big which makes it feel quite cold and unwelcoming. The seating isn’t that comfy either so if you’re wanting to sit back and read a paper while having some coffee then this isn’t a great place for it. The cakes and things on offer are nice but not fantastic.  As I said, a great place to grab a takeaway lunch and a coffee but not that appealing to sit in for a nice breakfast or lunch. I really hope it does well and improves so that it remains, as the area sorely needs similar places like this.

Have been a few times for a drink, nice decor but pretty surprised to turn up at 2.30pm for a sandwich only to be turned away as they 'stop serving food at 3pm'! Was planning to spend £10 in Amex Shop Small so seems funny to be turning away business when it's so quiet.

Nice week coffee place. Sadly Bert's struggles for clientele due to the proximity to Costa Coffee at West Edinburgh Retail Park. The food and drink is excellent. Sandwiches are fresh made everyday and served with a nice salad and nachos, if you eat in. Would be a real shame to loose this great wee Café. Pay it a visit you will not be disappointed.

This is my third trip to Edinburgh yarn fest, and Bert's is a must, for quality food and refreshments. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Its a pity that more people aren't in here sampling the fayre on offer!

Staff kept chatting away instead of making our drinks. We waited for 10 minutes for our coffees. Nice atmosphere though.

Thought I would try this place as a friend recommended it,what a big mistake,arrived at 1.20 asked what the soup was,as advertised out side soup and a sandwich,the abrupt waitress said no soup,so thought we would have a sandwich,asked what they had she pointed to the fridge and walked away!! We left and will not return.

Loving this new coffee bar in Chesser. Reasonably priced, great staff, fantastic coffee, great decor! Ticks all the boxes!
