Story

We are a cooperative, run by our members for our members. We are self-financing and run largely by volunteers within the community.

We help our members to understand and take control of their finances, work on their credit rating and build confidence through our ethical savings and loans products.

We aim to help the financially disadvantaged become financially included.

Our ethos is about teaching thrift and preventing people from getting into financial difficulties.

As a saver:
- Your savings are safe, backed by a government guarantee.
- Your savings are re-invested in the local community.
- You will share in the success of the Credit Union.

As a borrower:
- You won't be charged any fees.
- You will get the loan that fits your circumstances.
- If your circumstances change we can be flexible.

Mission

Our core objectives are:
Promotion of thrift among our members by the accumulation of their savings.
Creation of sources of credit for members at a fair and reasonable cost.
Training and education of members in the management of their financial affairs.

Berkshire Credit Union works to help the financially excluded. Savers who have put a little aside each month are eligible for loans at rates far below the ones offered by pay day loan companies.

Our Credit Union aims to encourage thrift and providence amongst its membership, while giving them a helping hand when required.
