Very disappointing restaurant experience. The restaurant was practically empty and it was a Saturday night. Not many staff on, and it took us forever to be served and to get our food. Some of the meals on the menu were not available. My nan has a restricted diet due to being 95. Many of the meals on the children's menu were perfect for her, but they refused to let her order from the children's menu because she's over 11 years of age, no matter how restricted her diet is. None of the items on the starter menu she could have either, which they told her to order from instead, and even though there were items on the lunchtime menu which she could've eaten, they wouldn't let her order from that one either. She ended up with fish and chips, and she opened up the batter and ate the fish. Complete waste of food, and we're meant to be a nation all about reducing food waste and eating better. We won't be returning. Overpriced and below average food, with very poor service!
Great pub and hotel. Food and beer were high quality. Accommodation is clean and well presented. My only issue was Saturday morning staffing. 1 lady seemed Tobe covering reception and breakfast service. 8/10Rooms: 5/5
Arrived yesterday. The room was clean and tidy. Fluffy thick white towels, shower gel, soap, hairdryer, ironing board, iron, ketttle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fresh milk, UHT milk. The 3 course evening meal was lovely, I had creamy garlic mushrooms, my husband had squid, main we chose sea bass, dessert I chose the cheesecake,my husband had the chocolate pudding, tea, coffee, followed by a couple of drinks. The bed was comfortable, cosy, and the room was lovely and warm. For breakfast, there is a continental optional with much to choose from and also an option for a hot breakfast. We both chose granola, followed by the farmers' choice, which was scrambled eggs with bacon and paprika, served with spinach and beans, we also had fresh orange juice, tea, and a cup of coffee. Staff were extremely knowledgeable, polite, friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond with regard to customer service. I feel the staff truly are the backbone of this establishment. Great stay and value for money.
We had a 12.15 booking and left at 3.45. It was mother's day, and was busy. But service was very, very slow. I believe it to be slow kitchen rather than front of house team. Disappointing after several good meals there.Service: 2/5
Stayed at this location recently for work Stayed in the location adjacent to the pub. Great room, very comfortable with lovely décor. Pub was also very nice with a great choice of food both for evening meals and breakfast. Would highly recommend the Seabass & Scallops. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Rooms: Clean, lovely décor, cosy Food & drinks: Excellent quality, good choices
Had Sunday lunch which was really good. Pub had lovely interior and dining area was not cramped. Would definitely recommend
We had lovely meals there this evening, very tasty. The drinks are quite expensive though. Service good.
Lovely Greene King pub. You know what you are going to get.... good food and great beers. I can't comment on the rooms as I haven't stayed. Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely young man Toby behind the bar today and Hannah taking orders for food always smiling. Great team at the Berkshire Arms
Stayed in the hotel here like I have done many times. At 2am there was a knock on my door from a male voice shouting housekeeping and then my door opened. I shot out of bed to see someone walking into my room. I shouted get out at as they quickly turned round and ran away. I went to reception only for them to tell me that none of this was at all possible and I must have been dreaming. Due to their poor attitude and lack of care I have had to get the police involved. This is not a safe hotel to stay. Avoid at all costs
Dear Berkshire team, my girlfriend and I recently enjoyed dinner at your place, and I must say it was delightful. We were served by a chap called Ian, and his conduct was professional throughout, while still showing great care and personality. As someone who also works in service I appreciate this greatly. Will certainly return!
