A fantastic place, the history is phenomenal. The tour guide was excellent and we were able to spend a lot of time with her since there were very few of us on the tour when I was there. Highly recommend the gardens - wander all through them. Do not miss the butterfly house! St. Mary's Church is another wonderful piece of history not to be missed.

An amazing day out! The 62 bus from Bristol Coach Station takes you straight there which is a plus, easy to get to! Would recommend going on one of the guided tours through the castle as the guides have lots of interesting things to tell. We went on a Monday morning and the first tour of the day, it was only 8-10 people in our group which gave us good space in each room to look around and to ask questions. Also enjoyed the Butterfly House! Definitely worth a visit!

We visited on a Monday during the school holidays when grandparents get free entry with a paying child. We had our two grandchildren visiting so it only cost us £12 entry for all four of us which was very good value. I'm not sure if we'd have gone if we had to pay £11 an adult each as l feel quite expensive. Our children, aged 6 + 8 yrs loved hunting for the jesters around the castle, following the baby dragons around the grounds and dressing up in period costumes. We thought the story teller was amazing (particular good for kids she'd 2-6) but our eldest did like it too! As did Grandad!) We stayed 5 hours and managed to do the educational questionaire on the way round too. We took a picnic. My only criticism is there could be a few more picnic tables. We couldn't use picnic blankets as the grass had recently been cut and was wet from rain earlier in the day! We'd been lucky as it was dry during our visit; but you'd be limited for things to do if it was raining! Craft area not the best I've experienced. Butterfly house was lovely but doesnt fill much of your day. I think a playground area and bigger picnic area would make it more family friendly. Overall a lovely day; staff and guides helpful and friendly.
