Unfortunately I’ve had to experience 3 visits over last 2 weeks. The man in the shop has on each occasion been rude. Problems incurred - no price list and man in shop had no idea of any price. No change in shop when paying cash - apparently my problem. No apology for damaged goods. Chased out of shop because I left damaged goods behind for disposal. Sadly the Ben’s that was has been taken over by another shop Domino Dry Cleaners, Beckenham who don’t have any sort of customer service. Won’t be using again.
Shocking service and price!!! Clearly using the established "BEN's" name from years ago, I won't be going back and I don't think the customer in front of me will be either. £20 for a standard coat to be cleaned and its not even done on the premises!
This place may be good for your shirts and day to day clothes.. but DO NOT get your expensive / delicate items cleaned here. I was charged £75 for my wedding dress and it came out worse than it went in. I accept that stains may not come out.. but no care was taken to remove any snagging, bobbling or loose thread. It was then put in a small box with no stuffing and the bottom of the dress is all creased. Waste of money and i left it with Ben for 3 weeks..!! Fragile £3k garments should not be put through the machine like everything else.. all my beading at the top of my dress is ruined because it was put through the machine. Really not happy.. could have done a better job myself! I called and told Ben how I felt.. he hung up on me! Charming!
Really not good. Might be ok for basic shirts/suits. But we've tried three times as they're the closest to our house and wanted to give the benefit of the doubt to a local shop. First was for my wedding dress as they advertise the service and their price was competitive. They have no idea what they're doing. I appreciate all stains can't come off the bottom of the dress is still snagged and darkened by mud, ok fair enough I guess but the underarms were somehow yellow which wasn't the case when I gave it to them. I had to bleach and clean myself. I removed two additional stains myself too. The bottom was crumpled. I should have gone somewhere else. I thought I would stick with basic items. I brought them a couple of suits for my husband just before their refurb. They came out ok. BUT communication was awful: they hadn't mentioned they were going to close for refurb so I came in a few days later as agreed to pick them up and just saw a note on the closed door. I called the number. They alleged they had called to warn me they hadn't and told me I could pick it up in a different location a week later. My husband had two suits missing for work that week and I had to do several trips. No discount or apologies were given. Miscommunication can happen and they have now reopened a very clean shop so I thought I'd try one last time. I brought them a toddler coat and two throws. They had to outsource the cleaning of the coat which meant it would take a full week. Not ideal but fine. I've just picked them up and it was £30 for the lot so not cheap: the three items still have stains on them which I've removed myself easily in ten minutes once back home. When I queried this at the shop, the lady just replied they had used all the chemicals several times. She didn't offer any apologies or discount for the mediocre work. And God yes have they used "all the chemicals"! The smell from the throws is so strong that it overpowers the whole living room. My husband and a friend have both commented on it as soon as they entered the room, and I'm worried burrying her head in the throws/wearing the coat isn't really safe for our toddler. We've never had this awful chemical smell from a dry cleaner before. It's a shame but we're done and will look for another shop.
