I booked tickets for my family of 4, and what a great price for everything you get to see! There is parking at the bottom of the castle hill which has charges however there is free parking directly outside the castle if you have a Blue Badge, as it's quite a steep path to walk up and down. The staff at the visitor centre at the entrance were very helpful, and will direct you to disabled parking if need be. You can purchase a guide book for £5, but we decided to go rogue! The castle was insanely immaculate, but I think that's due to the Belvoir family still living there. The history is fantastic, and the guides were very informative and helpful. The gardens were well kept. I had paid for tickets for the playground which was near the entrance, which was all modern equipment and made out of wood. There is toddler age appropriate equipment, but I would recommend keeping an eye on at all times. Great fun playing and had a zip wire too. The cafe was very overpriced, and the jacket potatoes weren't fresh, so it's okay for a coffee, but eat before hand or bring a picnic. That would be the only disadvantage.
Magnificent place. We visited the castle last Monday, not much people around. We had a great time roaming around the castle, learning about its history. It took us 1.5 hours to finish the tour with lots of picture taking The Garden was also pretty wide. And the landscape was amazing.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Incredible. Beautiful. Stunning. We went on mother's day for a walk around the gardens and to look in the shops and this took up the full day! We are looking forward to returning to look inside the castle soon! The coffee shop there is lovely with vegan options too! They also offer free walk guides. There are three available, short, medium and long walks.
Gorgeous castle! Stuff was very nice. The management is very good, follow the one way step so you don't miss anything. Beautiful environment as I expected. That day they had an event of old style military and it was fun!!
What a nice place! Stunning Castle and beautiful gardens. The Castle tour 4.00£ a must on, it last almost 2 hours and all the volunteers have so many stories and interesting things to tell you. awesome.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNo
8/9/2022 Lovely place to visit. Stunning scenery & gardens, lovely staff & facilities, and the interiors are extremely grand. Bit pricey but worth it. What is an issue are the parking fees. If you stay longer than the time you paid for in the machines you will face a fine. Worse in engine yard car park where you have a maximum of 4 hours which isn’t acceptable on busy days we went on a quiet day so did not have to park there but you can stay for the whole day if you park in the main car park
An amazing castle steeped in history. Every room is overflowing with detail. We took the guided tour which was excellent. It look an hour an a half and only cost £4!Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYes
Lovely gardens. Car parking was a little busy and gravel. There is a disabled entrance check map as it's not the main entrance which takes you to the castle saving the walk uphill through the gardens. Play area for children which looked great too.
Visited for a 16.30 slot at the Cinderella experience. Magical. Not too busy so had some of the rooms to ourselves. Male voice choir provided some festive tunes. The pictures really don't do it justice. Very pretty inside and out with twinkly lights a plenty. Also visited the engine yard and had a pizza from the outdoor oven before going to the castle.
Visited with grandchildren during Easter holidays. Very enjoyable day. We did however find it difficult to locate the main entrance not helped by our sat nav we managed to find 2 incorrect gates first. Perhaps a couple more signs would help. Very picturesque location with some lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The house and gardens are well worth a visit with plenty to see and enjoy. We may visit again in summer to see the gardens in full bloom. We enjoyed lunch in the tea room. However the cafe near the car park was under some pressure with quite long queues in our experience. Be aware the site has a few steep paths but we'll worth the effort to enjoy the views and garden. The Eater event was very well done and enjoyed by our family The whole place had a very nice welcoming feel to it and all the staff were most helpful . We would definitely recommend a visit.
