Lovely gardens and dog friendly cafe But the parking is awful It's a parking app and everyone was having problems with it. At least give people a choice to pay at the machine, this does affect people wanting to visit again No toilets at the cafe Some near entrance but didn't look like somewhere you'd want to visit.
Nice to spend a while here and have a little walk around. There's a cafe, playground, plenty of seats and some ducks and geese! Parking is in a fairly cheap pay and display car park.
Well-tendered flowers & shrubs with ponds to attract water-fowl. The weir is stunning as is the view of the historic mill awaiting renovation. A lovely oasis in town to relax abd charge your batteries! Playground: Great enclosed play area for the kids with picnic tables. Restrooms: Adequate but could be improved Dog-friendliness: Great place for well-behaved dogs Picnic area: Picnic area with tables and bench seating
Had no idea this was there, discovered by chance as needed to stretch our legs. Lovely little area with a cafe, children's play area and a kiosk for row boat rentals.
Just found out on the google maps ,tried to explore locally. Good place ,very well maintained, small cafe attached with washrooms. Small kids play area ,it's just close to the train station. 2 paid parking available 1 I think u can pay on exit found later, we used the other . Restrooms: Attached to the cafe ,1 more but looked it was closed near the entry Picnic area: Spaces available for small picnic
Lovely area with parking available at a good rate. Lovely cafe with ice-cream milkshakes and light lunches available too. River boats weren't open on the day we went but it says online that they are temporarily closed.
Travelled from Derby to Belper River Gardens many times over the years no tearooms then, only a derelict building so this is our first time going to the new tearoom "Park Life Cafe," it's a wonderful place we had regular skinny lattes and toasted teacakes - delicious and fairly priced. We will definitely be making return visits Restrooms: Very clean
The Belper River Gardens is lovely, free parking as you go past the river gardens and you can park right next to the gardens where you can pay for parking. There is a band stand there and in the summer months various bands play on a Sunday afternoon. There are plenty of benches. In the summer they hire out boats on the river. I took my granddaughter there, who is 5, after playing on the playground. We went to the cafe. She chose a hot chocolate they do not do a children's one .. only an infant one babychino. My granddaughter tasted it and said it was too sweet. The system is you order and pay, and then they give you a little device that flashes when your drinks are ready for you to collect. If you order any food, they deliver to the table. When I went to collect the drinks, the couple on the next table had a large dog, which was stood up. I was sat near the window, near entrance to the toilets, which was fine. As I walked back towards my table with a tray with 2 large glass cups on it, the guy with the dog wasn't about to rein it in, so I had to manoeuvre round the dog and there is not a lot of room!! I'm not against dogs but maybe the owners sometimes need the training ., we should all respect each other. When my food was delivered. I asked the young waiter for a knife, and he said you can get one from behind him, as the dog was in the way, I asked the waiter to pass me one.. he did begrudgingly. Service is not that good... I know it's not a restaurant, but a little bit of helpful service wouldn't go amiss. A little bit pricey for me, 1 latte, 1 hot chocolate, 1 tea cake and toast with jam £12 especially when the hot chocolate wasn't drank as it was so sweet it tasted like one of those drinks you make with hot water and although I said it was for a child but they served it in a large glass cup. I think the reason being all staff are quite young. I didn't see anyone from the kitchen. But the place was quite busy and seems to be popular. From looking at my photos the name of the cafe is The Swift Tea rooms. But the setting is good, and there is some outdoor seating overlooking the river. The river is very high at the moment but makes for good photos. Playground: The playground is ok and is for children up to 7-8. It is fenced off so safe to use. There are a couple of benches. Restrooms: Clean, all toilets are unisex. Easy access from the playground as well as from the cafe. Dog-friendliness: They allow dogs into the river gardens, the cafe but not in the playground and dogs are not allowed in the picnic area, as it is part of the playground. Picnic area: There's an area with a few picnic tables as you walk through the playground on the left overlooking the river.
Lovely! Perfect for small ones with the park and ducks, nice cafe too.
Wow, what a beautiful place Belper River Gardens is! Not a huge place but lovely! Beautifully kept gardens, clean and very tidy grounds. The river, ducks and train track make it a perfect day out! The cafe is lovely too, very friendly.
