I used the Belfast Grand Central Station recently while travelling to Manchester from Belfast. I was wowed by the state-of-the-art transportation facility I found there, offering a range of innovative features & services.nnThe station seamlessly connects rail & bus services, making it easier to travel across Northern Ireland & even beyond to the Republic of Ireland.nnThough not fully completed, the station is designed with 26 bus stands & 8 railway platforms. It also houses amenities like ATMs, vending machines, as well as automated ticket machines.nnTo top it off, the station's cleanliness, spaciousness & accessibility features, together with the helpful staff, are highly appreciated .
The opening of Belfast Grand Central Station and the implementation of the hourly Enterprise service have fundamentally transformed cross-border rail travel between Dublin and Belfast. The station, a modern and accessible hub, has significantly increased capacity and streamlined connectivity, offering a vastly improved passenger experience. The enhanced frequency of the Enterprise service provides unprecedented flexibility, facilitating both business and leisure travel and fostering greater economic and social integration across the island.
Belfast Grand Central Station is undoubtedly a modern and much-needed upgrade to the city’s transport infrastructure. The design is sleek, the increased rail and bus capacity is impressive, and the addition of well-known food outlets is a nice touch. It’s spacious, easy to navigate, and feels like a proper transport hub for a growing city. However, for a station of this size, the toilet situation is shockingly inadequate. There’s only one toilet on the ground floor, which is simply not enough for the volume of passengers passing through daily. The queues are long, and it’s frustrating that such a basic but essential facility wasn’t better planned. For a brand-new, multi-million-pound station, this feels like a major oversight. Hopefully, they address this issue soon because otherwise, it’s a fantastic addition to Belfast’s transport network
Great difficulty accessing the station. Was getting dropped off but nowhere to stop. Had to park illegally at a double yellow to get out of the car. I have mobility issues and had to walk up a lot of steps to get in. There is a slope to walk up but it was blocked by scaffolding. If you wanted to go in that way it is currently wheelchair unaccessible. I was told there is another entrance but google maps couldn't find it and took us past the station onto the motorway so we had to double back.nStation is bright and airy inside but also massive so difficult if you have mobility issues.
Really nice to have a bigger bus/train station in the Belfast as the Europa was always very cramped and never had enough seats or accomodations for people. Although sometimes I wonder why it is so big as there isn't a lot in the inside to justify it. Still very nice.
