A 5,500 year old long barrow in a peaceful setting. Although extensively restored/rebuilt following archaeological excavations, it's still very evocative. Parking is on a small lay-by or the verge, off a country lane, and there is a moderately steep walk up to the barrow on top of the hillVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo wait
Interesting long barrow, with a fascinating history. It's a 20 min uphill walk to get there, but the walk is pleasant and the view is fantastic.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Parking on a lay-by on a country lane next to a wooded area followed by a ten minute walk on the Cotswold way before arriving at Belas knap long barrow a beautiful and truly spiritual place well worth a visit.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
I have been here before but walked up at that time from Winchcombe. This time I walked from Cleave hill car park by the golf club cafe. Approx 3.5 miles. Quite flat so not too difficult. Belas Knap is in a remote but beautiful spot.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Fantastic walk from cleve Common, along the cotswold way. If you are interested in history and like walking this is the one for you. Winchcombe not far away for tea and cakes, plus sudley Castle.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
This barrow is over 5,500 years old, and was constructed by prehistoric people as a place to bury their dead. The remains of at least 38 people were buried within the four chambers and behind the portal setting. Radiocarbon dates show that they had died between 3,700 and 3,600 BC, in the early Neolithic period. They probably led a lifestyle based on cattle herding, small-scale farming and hunting.
It’s wonderful place to spend weekend on sunny day. I enjoyed walking on hill.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A serene place nestled on the top of hill. It has been well restored in the 1960s. There are 3 chambers you can enter all are quite small. It has a peaceful ambiance about the site. It alignment is just off North so probably aligned to the constellation of Cygnus but I left my Compass in the car so not exactly sure but it looks close. Well worth the visit
Fantastic place... just a short walk from a nearby layby. I've came here multiple times, it's a super unique and interesting place. Although it's been rebuilt and maintained over the years it doesn't take away from what is a truly magical ,mysterious and beautiful place. It's super quite here and is a place where you can most definitely gather your thoughts. Definitely take a picnic if you have the weather.
Good. Less crowded. 15 mins walk from nearby parking.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
