It's really beautiful place. The castle distorted a lot but you can see ruins of the walls and entrance of the city. From top of the hill you have amazing views on Cheshire area. The entrance ticket cost just 12.00 pound and good parking which cost 3 pound. On the territory you will see not just remains of destroyed castle also you will have nice picnic area, benches for tired tourists, toilet and shop with souvenirs.
Starting from the reception, you will be welcomed by a friendly and welcoming staff. A map of the area is provided. Right there at the reception you can taste honey wines, which are typical of this area. You will also be introduced to locally produced wines, brandies, etc. Will show you where to go, how to better plan the order of attractions. When you arrive at the ruins of the castle or the replica of the Bronze Age lodge, you will again be greeted by other very knowledgeable specialists who will tell you as much as you have the patience and interest to hear. And of course, fantastic views of nature all around! Special thanks to Bob for the interesting and detailed narration and demonstration!
We thoroughly enjoyed this Castle, the walk was quite steep - so not good for the less able bodied ... but worth the walk for the spectacular views from the top !! The Bronze Age Round House reconstruction is amazing - very clever Volunteers who built it in the 21st Century ! There is a Museum which is informative & is included in the price, it is located inside the Entrance/Shop where you buy your Tickets. The Staff were friendly & helpful Well worth a visit
We were lucky enough to have Dave an English Heritage volunteer give us a free guided tour of the castle which definitely enhanced our visit. It was a lovely and very informative 1.5 hrs spent, with breathtaking 360degrees of the surrounding countryside from the top. A very enjoyable time was had and I would highly recommend going.
Fantastic views from the top very helpful staff on entering explained which route to take. Seats on the way but it's definitely not wheelchair friendly. Toilets just inside gate. Parking over the road but disabled spaces for 3 or 4 cars on a bank not very good. Cafe to sit outside just down the road from entrance prices not bad.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Beeston Castle in Cheshire is an absolute gem! The walk up to the castle is scenic and invigorating, with stunning views that reward you at the top. The ruins are fascinating and steeped in history, making it a great spot for history buffs and families alike. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to share interesting tidbits about the castle’s past. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking, perfect for a day out. Highly recommend visiting for a mix of adventure, history, and natural beauty! Car park is £3 and Beeston castle is £8 online
One of our favorite castles! When visiting on a weekday, we avoided crowds and nearly had the place to ourselves. As mentioned in some other reviews, I do wish there were informational signs around the grounds. It is very limited in this way and it required us to just ask on our way back out. Location and overall experience still deserves 5 stars! -paid parking and entry -information center is really helpful and interesting -dog-friendly -grounds are gorgeous, but the walk up to the castle could be tough for those with mobility limitations steep in sections, steps, walking through a field, etc. -wonderful location for a walk and picnic in the area directly outside of the castle! The views from the castle center are impressive too!
Wow! What a place. Spectacularly beautiful, the grounds and remaining stoneworks are fascinating and readily interpretable. I spent hours exploring the site, imagining what had happened here over time. This place evoked such a sense of wonder in me. I recommend visiting in clear weather if possible, as the view over the Cheshire Plain is truly something to behold.
Visited 12/04/2024 utilising free entry as English Heritage members, which included free parking as members also. There is a good sized car park, and on the Friday around 11am there was plenty of spaces. Once through the main entrance you go into the reception building and scan your members passes if you have them or pay for entry if you are not. This reception building also has the shop and a small visitors information display space which has information displays and models of the site. Once out of the reception building there is the only bathroom facilities on the site so best you can go before taking the trip up the hillside to the castle at the top. We initially took a buggy with us but when we got to the outer wall boundary of the castle we made the call to return the buggy to the car and make rest of the trek upward by foot with the three year old. I would suggest using a carrier for small children. The site overall is family friendly but there are some very steep inclines and deep steps which small children will need assisting with/carrying over and for those with mobility difficulties will need assistance from another person in parts as not many guided rails etc where the steep inclinations are. There is a straight route up from the mid point where the inner castle boundary wall is or you can go left or right up some steps and then once past go up a gradual smoother incline slightly longer rather than straight up and steeper incline. Once at the top there is some spectacular views and some places to sit down and appreciate the views. After the walk back down you can visit the gift shop and there are some things for both kids and adults. Also as you exit to the main road to the right is the cafe area where you can have items ranging from tea/coffee/hot chocolate, ice cream and some other food items. Overall a good place to visit with the family
A gem of a location. Fantastic burners over 5 counties and a fascinating history. Steep hill climb over uneven terrain till so probably not accessible to some. Good facilities and small but pleasant coffee stallVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
