We enjoyed our visit. Despite a business trip we relaxed and had a good time. All of the staff were prompt, polite and kind. The venue was very clean and tidy, the food great quality, and great personal experience. Only reason for not getting 5 stars was portion size of the chips with our steaks. We visited two nights on the trot both nights we got only a few chips. It's just a potato, don't hold back. Other than that I cannot fault the place. Thanks for a great, personal and comfortable visit.
Haven't been for quite some while. Can honestly say the Steaks I had were as good as I've had anywhere. Good Stuff!Food: 5/5
Nowhere to sit to just have drinks without encountering a dirty table. Extremely slow service, supposedly because of large tables. Drinks & starters took a long time to arrive; nachos had cheese melted in microwave probably and weren't 'loaded' at all. Garlic bread was just flatbread and the sirloin steak was thin and not great. It may be 'just a beefeater' but seemed understaffed and way too busy for a Saturday dinner rush. With the less than average food it can't warrant better than 2 stars.
We have been eating at the Griff for over 30 years. We have always loved the food there. Always had great service from an efficient team and today was no exception. We were served by Ellis, a very competent waiter. The Griff has definitely begun to shine again after the trials of lockdown. Still our favourite!
I would give this no stars if I could. Absolutely packed this Saturday evening, was overcrowded and understaffed. Waited ages to get drinks served at the bar. Had booked, but we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table, once seated we were told there was a 45 minute wait on food. Ordered more drinks and waited 20 minutes for those to arrive and when they did they were wrong. We saw food going to other tables and all the dishes looked dried up and very small portion sizes. So when our food arrived we were rightly disappointed. I had the steak pie as it was recommended as a star buy, it tasted odd but I ate it as it was now almost 10pm.. Three and a half hours later I brought it all back up. Absolute waste of time and money with food poisoning included. Will never eat at a Beefeater again!
New year meal. Manager and staff were well organised. Our waitress was Natasha her service was fabulous. The food was perfect. Thankyou for a wonderful night. My husband had a meal deal. And I had free meal which was sent to me 1st December 2022 My husband had mixed grill cooked to perfection. And that good from retired butcher. Vegetarian options: I had root vegetables bake with all the vegetables. Gravy mint sauce.
Birthday celebration meal ruined! Slow service - nearly two hours to get through two courses didn't have the will to stay for dessert. The place was absolutely freezing - there was no heating on at all mid January and really cold snap. Vegan meal was an absolute joke resembled a child's portion - half the portion of the non vegan alternative but the same price! Mixed grill was served practically cold and the fish and chips also resembled a child's portion. If you want to be freezing cold and half fed this is the place to go.
Stayed at Premier Inn for a long time and had dinner here every day. Enjoyed every one of their meals. Very healthy portions. Extensive menu that did not disappointFood: 5/5
A trip to the Beefeater used to be a treat we all looked forward to, there was choice, well cooked food and portions we would often struggle to consume... All for a reasonable price, in comfortable surroundings too...however, whilst the prices have gone up like everywhere, so not complaining about that everything else has been forgotten, portion control is just weird, while there is a choice of fries or "chunky" chips, the volume of each was weird to say the least, my eleven chips yes I counted barely made any difference to my carb intake today, compared to the mound of fries someone else at the table had with their meal. Not once did a server come to ask how the food was, or if we were enjoying it. The burgers felt underwhelming, not thick, juicy patties of finest beef, just dried out mats of meat. At least the kitchen knew what medium rare meant when it came to the steak! Anyway, all this means an underwhelming trip out to somewhere me might try again, but not for the next 6 months at least.
Had a great meal the waitress who served us was great. She was patient and understanding with children in regards to fussy eaters. Food was brought out quickly and was piping hot was asked a how the meal was. For a chain pub it was very nice. Kid-friendliness: Waitress was great with children, one of mine and my partner's children have ADHD/autism and is a very fussy eater and she was patient and understanding Parking: It has a car park what more can be said
