I feel genuinely unsafe being treated by this practice. Getting an appointment is impossible via their awful system. Good luck getting an appointment within six weeks. They seem to have a different list of doctors every time I try to get an appointment, not one of whom I have ever met. I have literally not laid eyes on a doctor since before Covid - I ended up needing major surgery and the liaison with the GP was done entirely via online messaging and telephone. I’m sure it’s a very cost effective way of managing patients, but reassuring when you’re unwell? Not in the slightest. I have to recount my entire complex medical history to every clinician I speak to because I never get the same one twice and I’m sure they don’t have the time or the patience to read my backstory. I feel fobbed off and passed on every time I have an issue, and given whatever will get me off their case the quickest, rather than what I actually need or assurance that their recommendations are truly considered - I have not felt appropriately assessed or triaged for years. I was referred onto another service recently who asked *me* why one of the Beech Hill doctors had misinterpreted my blood test results. This would have been the last straw to make me go elsewhere, but I have very little faith that things are better anywhere else in the borough. Beech Hill is a broken GP practice within a broken system.
I moved to the area a few years ago. I have had multiple health issues since and always been dealt with exceptionally. Having moved to Wigan from a much more deprived area of Manchester, I can say unequivocally that those people who are moaning in these reviews don’t know how lucky they are. Furthermore all the things they’re shouting about relate to the criminally negligent mismanagement of the NHS by the tories. Is it frustrating that there are struggles to get appointments and prescriptions now take longer etc? Yes. Is it the fault of individual surgeries? No. My experience of this practice has been of exceptional staff at all levels who are trying their best in difficult circumstances. They can’t make more money, doctors or nurses appear. However I know from experience that the doctors often stay way past surgery times to complete telephone appointments etc. I’ve had a face to face appointment today with a gp who took great care to help me. This took longer because I’m autistic and have communication difficulties. I wasn’t rushed and left with a definite plan and advice. Tip for those raging with their 1 star reviews; don’t be rude to people doing their best. They want to help you. Everyone thinks their issue is the most pressing. Thanks for the great help from reception to health care professionals. It’s appreciated.
Absolute nightmare, can only book appointments between 08:00&08:45 while all normal people are at work!!!! Then they tell you to use ask my GP and guess what? You can only log requests between 08:00&08:45!!!! The receptionists are not very helpful either, all they ever say is “have you tried ask my GP”. The pharmacy next door is no better, you could of ordered your medication 10 days ago but you still have to wait 1/2 hour coz there not ready and that’s if they have what you need. Half the time your asked to go back a day or 2 later and then you still have to wait another 1/2 hour in store!!!!
I have been with the practice since I was a baby always been great until the last twelve months absolute shambles and don't care about how you fee no help at all. Rude staff will definitely be considering moving in next few weeks
Got through at 08:01 after 62 attempts. Needed an emergency appointment.nnIndifferent soulless staff told me no appointments today and to drive to Leigh walk in even though I cant move my neck. How tf am I supposed to drive like that!?nnThis is the last in a long line of terrible tales I have about this place. The doctors are great but everything else about it is absolute trash. Should be shut down in my opinion. They definitely should be investigated for bad practice and management.nnCould not be any more disorganised if they tried. I'm switching GP's and looking into the best organisation to lodge a complaint with.
