I had the misfortune of using Beaumont legal when we brought our house a year ago. Avoid them at all costs! I had to bury my mother last year and I mean no hyperbole when I say that was the second most stressful moment of the year by some distance behind having to deal with Beaumont legal. To put this into perspective, my mum when she was alive had gifted me some money for a deposit on my house, Beaumont legal needed to see some evidence for this, standard stuff. The problem was that they had sent the email to my dead mothers email address and was waiting on correspondence from her… For 3 months, without telling me this was holding up the completion of our house. Had they done this I would have been able to politely advise them that short of having a ouija board, it would be quite impossible for my mother to send this over The only thing Beaumont is competent at is being incompetent. Avoid at all costs.
Ridiculous, I wish I never wasted my time with this company. I was recommended by my mortgage broker so they can be in touch and get things done quickly, being told that they were "good". Honestly, I've never been so stressed in my entire life. The level of communication was ridiculous, I had to chase for updates, I had to try to take the matter into my own hands. A simple re-mortgage change of banks for a lower interest was not done in 6 WHOLE MONTHS!! They clearly didn't care enough about their clients. They were given 6 months + a 15 day grace period and still couldn't get the transaction through. Absolutely rubbish. I wasted so much money because of this company when the whole point of the re-mortgage was to prevent spending more money. Do not waste your time.
Communication with BL was poor to say the best. Had to call & email regarding our house sale. Came down to us contacting the head of department. With just 10 days left until our mortgage provider removing our deal. Our stress levels were at break point
Unfortunately I can't give zero stars. We sold two of our rental properties through Beaumont Legal. Both NO chain, one was a cash buyer. Took far longer than necessary to complete. They lost our ID and some other documents that we had to re send 6 months into the process. I was told that because the properties were under the threshold for the stamp duty exemption, they were a low priority and they were rushing other properties through. We were told that the buyers' solicitors had failed to respond and we ended up basically chasing everything up with one buyer directly as our solicitor appeared to have no interest in actually completing. The best part was when we attempted to make a complaint. Our case handler immediately emailed and said he was working on our file and did we still need to speak to his boss. On another occasion we asked to speak with his boss and were told that it would take up to 48hours and did we still want to bother to complain. I would avoid them at all costs
I am a financial adviser and have never felt the need to write a bad review before. Beaumont Legal undertake the practice of an 'opt-out' service for fraud restrictions when registering a new mortgage charge. Over the last few years, almost every person I know that used them to register the mortgage has been required to return to Beaumont to get it removed and pay additional fees. Their opt out policy is at best misleading and clearly a way of generating more money for their company. They also make it extremely difficult to remove the restriction when the client contacts them. In the latest instance, a complaint was being made and immediately got through to their reception desk. After asking for the case handler, they were placed on hold for over 40 minutes. At this point, a second phone was used to call and again they immediately got through to be told that the person the first call was still on hold to had left for a meeting. This was clearly a despicable tactic to waste someone's time when looking to get an issue resolved and i can't implore people enough to avoid this company at all costs.
I don't like giving negative reviews however after having to endure this shambles of a company I was compelled to warn others to not make the same mistake. There was incompetence at every step of the way, from a lack of communication , telling my buyers one thing and my mortgage broker another, giving the wrong bank details not to mention closing the office early on numerous occasions so they became unreachable when it was vital we spoke to them. The whole experience has been a nightmare and costly for us as well. The exchange and completion dates were not met despite knowing well in advance our intended dates. This meant we couldn't plan anything going forward and now we're essentially homeless while we wait to complete on my next property. If you're thinking about using this tin pot company , don't. If you see someone in your chain are using them i would also avoid like the plague.
A joke. We used Beaumont Legal/Legalzoom in 2019 for a purchase of a first time home and the process was riddled with issues then, with under qualified staff taking care of our case resulting in massive delays when actual qualified solicitors had to oversee every thing and often redo, but that is water under the bridge. We are now selling said first time home, a mere 3 years later, and are encountering tens of issues that SHOULD have been dealt with when we purchased in 2019. Missing documents that were never gathered from previous owners, resulting in me spending my own money to source documents or take out Indemnity Policies due to these documents not being available. It's mounting up the amount I'm having to spend on missing things that Beaumont had a duty to supply to us, or charge previous owners for not having. It's an absolute joke how 3 years later this terrible firm is still costing me time, money and stress. DO NOT use this firm. It might seem 'easy' and cheap to go with them but trust me, you will still have a Beaumont Legal headache years later.
The worst slolicitors ever. Unfortunately our buyer was using Beaumont Legal and it took them months just to send their enquiries through. Our solicitors couldn’t believe how incompetent they were. Neither our buyer or estate agents could get hold of them and after 7 months our chain collapsed.
Beaumont Legal carried out the sale of my house recently. The conveyancers were a nightmare causing untold amounts of unnecessary stress to myself and my family not to mention the estate agent! I found them obstructive and unhelpful being more focused at trying to be right than reaching out to me in a professional manner! I would not use them again particularly as one of the conveyancers was discovered to be telling me and the estate agent that the buyer was not ready to exchange. My agent sent an email of enquiry to the buyer's solicitors and found just as we'd understood from them that they had been ready for more than a week! A truly horrendous experience, I would not recommend Beaumont Legal nor use them again. This is also true for my agent!
