Your fish and chips look so good on your menu, I was ready to jump on a plane from Canada to get some. But, to my great disappointment, when I went to order, your website says you are closed for maintenance. Now I feel like a guy who went on a date with a tease.
Friendly staff and bright and clean. Quick service and reasonably priced.
No idea what to say as Drove all the way over from Newtownabbey to discover they where not open, yet Website says they are open and their signs states they should be open. Very disppointed!
Traditional chip shop cafe. Nice looking building on outside, basic caf inside. Good food, ample tea refills, very friendly staff and good country portions. Great price. Burgers are from Jackson's butchers which my other half tells me was devine. We had burger and chips, sausage beans and chips, 1 tea and 1 can of Fanta for £10! Fantastic.
Phoned in, phone was answered, they asked if I could wait a minute, I waited 7. First mistake. I was told the food would be ready in 20 mins. I went down after 20 mins and waited another 15. My food was ready but waiting for a tub of beans. While I waited I watched the presumable manager disciplining a young female member of staff, in front of other staff and customers, before taking the abrupt decision to close at c. 6.30pm on a Friday night. A man came in to order a portion of chips, and was told abruptly "we're closed". Beans finally arrived and they made a good attempt to charge me £23, then £20 for my £17 order. The food was nice, but had to be constructed into meals at home, all wrapped singly, a chicken curry chip meal came as 2 child size portions of chips and a tub of chicken curry, so it wouldn't suit for a quick bite, you'd have to be planning to go home and get a plate. The phone was ringing off the hook when I left, I wonder to they have an option to let calls go to am answerphone message when they close unexpectedly - it would save customers from leaving the house to go down to order, and find the place in darkness. The cardboard packaging is a nice sustainable touch, better than polystyrene, but that's the best thing about the experience.
Always very high quality food. Orders ready fairly quickly. Would strongly recommend. Pepper sauce is amazing!
Food is really great, and it's so lovely getting it again after 'lockdown'. Friday night 'fish supper' special is fabulous value. However, they dropped a star for service. Despite phoning my order in, I arrived when told, 'ready in 10 minutes'. However, on arrival, I was then made to wait outside in the rain for a further 20 minutes! I can appreciate they get busy, and if told on the phone it would be ready in 30 minutes, I wouldn't have minded at all, but when you make a promise with a customer, you should really think about keeping it.
Called in on our way to Larne. Menu very good, food was lovely, staff very efficient, place very clean, very reasonably priced. Would definitely call again if we were anywhere near here and would recommend.
Ordered online and was sent an email to say order was ready to collect. Went to collect it and it wasn't ready. Waited 10 minutes while I could see that half of my order was sitting getting cold. Got home and an item was missing, the chips were cold and the chicken gravy resembled wallpaper paste.Emailed chippy to advise and got no response . Won't be back.
NOTHING SHORT OF FANTASTIC! A really exceptional haddock and chips in this fabulous family-run old-style chippy restaurant. No unnecessary frills, just excellent food and a genuine super-friendly welcome well this is Northern Ireland, right? Check out my Tripadvisor review photo below
