A very interesting store!! Very friendly and helpful staff. A very good range of products across all ranges. There are some decent offers to be had as well. If there is downside, it's the lack of parking.... but you can't have everything in a crowded historic town centre.
Improved from the shambles it used to be. Well launched displays, a great toy department, and a good menswear dept. Ladies wear is well merchandiced but caters for the older woman. Cafe is always great to eat in , but service can be painfully slow, depending on time of day and who is serving.
Kendal's only dept store is quite muddled and the signage isn't particularly clear - fine when you're a regular visitor but less good for tourists and other ad hoc shoppers. They sell high quality goods at reasonable prices and recently reopened their toy department.
Nothing here except higher end make up and cosmetics you can't get further in town. Not massively engaging for under 40's or people with kids. Cafe nice enough to warrant a visit for lunch.
Well its Mothers Day Fail unfortunately. I called in to Beales on the Friday lunchtime before Mothering Sunday. I needed a brand of Estée Lauder perfume, and as Beales have a well stocked Or so I thought Estée Lauder counter. I've used Beales many times over the years and they've been pretty useful, however on this occasion not so. I was advised that it wasn't currently in stock. Fair enough, this is 2017, can I order it for the following day for store collection please? Sadly no I couldn't. "We can order it for you, and it should be here in two weeks"..... TWO WEEKS! Well, kind of slightly too late for Mothers Day I guess. I know that the local Boots branch also sells Estée Lauder, but I wanted to use the local company, that's been established in the town for years. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. So off to boots to spend £50.00 on a perfume with them instead. Ordered for next day store collection? No problem at all, picked up the next day with some free samples thrown in as well. Beales desperately needs to get with the programme. Next day collection isn't exactly radical. A website improvement is also needed asap as it looks like it was designed in the 90's and has no functionality whatsoever.
Good range of top quality goods. Well laid out with a decent café Nero. Keep an eye on discounts. They are frequent.
Utterly atrocious service. Rude, disinterested staff who were only interested in chatting with each other. After wandering around for over an hour, they were genuinely offended when we asked for assistance. Needs a serious rehaul in people skills
Thank goodness there are still some proper department stores left. My daughter and I loved being able to browse such a lovely range of items.
Love Beales and so sorry its closing. Took mum today to see the sales and the back entrance door smashed with a notice to walk to front entrance.Mum is 91 with a recent heart attack .. Just went home.
In many ways it is astonishing that Kendal has a department store but that is what Beales is - a good range if it stocks what you want and a regular pattern of offers and discounts.
