Love the venue and have eaten here before and loved it so this is purely based on group menu. If you order off the normal menu you would not be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and polite but not as attentive as they have been previously as we kept having to ask for drinks orders. The room we were given was excellent with a roaring fire and doors to open if you got too hot. The table were set out in an n shape so you had your back to people. Arranging them in a square so we could sit around and talk to everyone would have been much better. As I understand it the chef was off so everything was prepped earlier. Starter was a few cocktail sausages, bread and olives. We had a buffet of two warmed up dishes that were edible but average tbh. Chicken and cream mushrooms with rice and a duck hot pot! Everyone seemed to enjoy the puddings. I expected more from a £40 per head menu not including drinks so was a little disappointed with this visit.
New to the area and visited for Sunday Dinner not lunch, so dark on arrival. Lovely and warm and staff couldn't be more attentive and understanding to Our unusual party of 6. Crab starter and Seabass main delicious Food: 4/5
Really good food, reasonably priced. Pleasant service. Nice atmosphere.Food: 5/5
great wee pub in the countryside it's not cheep but worth every penny great food real fire brilliant if you love good quality well cooked to a very high standard this is for you would totally recommend to anyone
It's a while since I last visited this establishment and it was good then and now even better. I haven't had as good as a Sunday lunch in a long time . Twas excellent
What was a lovely place is just a joke now. We used to enjoy it just a few months ago but not anymore. A rasberry mocktail that I enjoyed last 2 visits is now just a pink lemonade, but still charged at £7. I have told the bar staff its not a mocktail just a joke, but the response was "we didn't have anything to put in it", but still charging for a mocktail that its clearly not. Poor service, not even busy but we waited for a long long time and eventually had to call for waiter to take our order and same with deserts. Food was good, no complaints there but never again. If you can't make a mocktail, not even tried, you shouldn't be charging for it. So disappointing, I thought it was the best place around there but clearly not.
We got off the M6 after being stuck in traffic for 3 hours, and were delighted to find this pretty little place. It was lunchtime on Sunday and, despite the fact that we only wanted coffee, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The coffee was good came with hand-made chocolate truffles!, the loos were spotless, we left feeling heaps better.
Lovely place with nice menu. Shame about the lack of veg on the Sunday roast and potatoes were tepid. No check back otherwise we would have mentioned to the staff. Lack of WiFi for the location was disappointing
Had a lovely lunch here with friends today. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The young ladies serving us were very attentive and friendly try re a credit to the owners of the Bay Horse. I will definitely be visiting again and would recommend anyone in the area to book a table and enjoy it too!
I expected this place to be fantastic from a recommendation, food was good but not great. One massive let down from my experience….if you are going to an establishment like this you would expect the cheesecake to be a proper one that is baked, not just cream cheese with a biscuit base. I think they forgot to add vanilla too, it was limp and had no flavour at all, just cream cheese and I didnt eat it. The only plus side of my experience was the staff were outstanding, polite, attentive and just all round nice, a credit to the place without doubt, shame the food didn’t match up.
