Great find, local history right on our doorstep, area steeped in history, with nice walking trails around the estate and local streets. Stop off for an ice cream by the walled garden. Tickets last for 12 months so you can return free if you don't get see everything.

A beautiful., wonderful place, a truly remarkable building that is just perfect as a wedding venue. The grounds are stunning the courtyard a perfect place to relax.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It's a great place to spend a few hours exploring. You can try find street parking or head over to the pub. From there it's a short walk. Across the road is the main fort and battlefields used during reenactments and events. Very good for kids to run around in.
I enjoyed the history of the place and my girls enjoyed the open space to play. There are plenty of toilets and I like the fact that you can return for free for a year once you pay and as we live locally I will be going again to do the nature trail
Very informative. Got a bit lost following the trails but enjoyed the well manicured landscapes. Shame the tunnel had no info but can't complain
Interesting to learn about the history. We enjoyed the nature walk and saw a bird or prey.
Ive seen the ruins from the train so was especially pleased to visit on a sunny day. Impossible to see it all in one visit so looking forward to returning.
