Barrow-in-Furness is a good station , however some improvements is recommend. Direct train from Manchester airport or Manchester Victoria, preston etc and train times are ok and promptness. There is a customer information Center available at platform 1. There are 3 platforms all total.nThere are facilities on both platforms, toilets and drinks etc with a cafe on platform 1 before you come through to the platform.nToilets are clean and there are stairs and lifts to each platform.nThere’s parking available and buses stop outside the station.nIt’s not a pretty station, no nice flowers or fun things, just a functional station. Waiting rooms in both the platforms closed in the evening, so if the weather is not good then it will be difficult to wait in the platforms.
28/02/2026: 21:21. Barrow to Kirkby train not held, leaving dozens of people wondering what had gone on. Bloke in the station office at Platform 1 refused to hold the train, saying they would be fined for holding it for more than 10 mins. Our train was 11-12 mins late into Barrow. So the Barrow and Kirkby was let go. Lots of vunerable people therefore missing the train with no communication. This bloke should not be in a job. The best I can do is leave a negative feedback.
Great station, but your heart sinks when you find out your trains been cancelled.

The station is nice for a town with a little express cafe/convenient store. But a quite one so I don't know why they need two security staff at the two gates I don't like that. Maybe if they didn't get rid of ticket offices and reduce the number of staff standing around watching you they could reduce the increases in ticket prices. Lastly the woman at the service counter was quite smug when I arrived at peak time and immediately got out her term of conditions pamphlet and proceeding to advice me next off peak train I could take was over 3 hours away and that I should pay double to go now. I didn't I waited and went right back and she did not look happy I out did her.
