I’ve swapped trains a few times at Barrow-in-Furness and have always been happy with the train times and promptness.nThere are facilities on both platforms, toilets and drinks etc with a cafe on platform 1 before you come through to the platform.nToilets are clean and there are stairs and lifts to each platform.nThere’s parking available and buses stop outside the station.nIt’s not a pretty station, no nice flowers or fun things, just a functional station.
The station is nice for a town with a little express cafe/convenient store. But a quite one so I don't know why they need two security staff at the two gates I don't like that. Maybe if they didn't get rid of ticket offices and reduce the number of staff standing around watching you they could reduce the increases in ticket prices. Lastly the woman at the service counter was quite smug when I arrived at peak time and immediately got out her term of conditions pamphlet and proceeding to advice me next off peak train I could take was over 3 hours away and that I should pay double to go now. I didn't I waited and went right back and she did not look happy I out did her.
One of the worst ticket barrier staff members in the entire country! The old lady is racist towards coloured people always speaking to them in an unpleasant manner. Absolute snobs and nothing but a perfect product for the matrix. A job to pay their bills and get nowhere whilst they watch the world get far in life using their own trains.
Unfortunately like most towns, rundown dirty and crawling with down and outs.nnIf coming to the lakes do yourself a favour and drive on.nnNot dog friendly either.
Nice and clean, the staff were friendly too.
