Great peaceful place to visit and walk around, nice and quiet here with only the very distant roar of traffic, and the wind. Came here last night and the skies were clear, not a cloud in the sky, and you can see for miles in any direction. Arrived at about 6:30 pm, and was still sunny, and walked around until it turned night and caught an amazing sunset. The place is a bit of a trek to get to if you don't live local, I had to drive here and parked on Brindle Lane, just outside the reserve. The reserve itself has 2 car parks, but honestly I wouldn't park my car there, as all I saw was people in their cars with the engines running, lights on and on their phone, or outside their cars drinking alcohol and smoking weed. That's the only real let down about this park. On the other side of the alleyway down from the war memorial there was a car parked right at the gate for 1h20m with its engine running the whole time, just polluting up the park. It was an ideal night, not cold, not warm, just right, so I don't get why cars had all their engines running. Unfortunately I had to walk through the first carpark when it was pitch back and had to walk past 10 cars, with a very strong smell of weed. The war memorial was nice to see, and happy to say it was clean and well kept, did not see any graffiti, which is a refreshing change. Take a torch if you are planning to go at night, there is no lighting in the park except for the cars.
Incredible spot FREE all welcome, especially if you are local. Simply drive in and park to explore around. Spectacular views, panoramic 360 almost. Shame about the punks, drug users, and disrespectful dirty scoundrels, leaving litter. They probably can't even read this. Just a warning to all good law abiding citizens. If you can ignore the mess left behind, or accasional tyre screeching thugs. Surely should be policed, or monitored. For us to enjoy, fabulous views. Stunning short walk will give you the best views ever. Check out what I managed to capture with a brief stopover. Dramatic, left me humbled & speechless at the splendour & beauty of our world. Love it share it respect it.
Visited on a week day on a particularly nice spring day. Free to park and plenty of spaces, lots of dog walkers. Elevated position afforded nice views across the Black Country. A beautiful war memorial sits proudly on the site, nice peaceful and respectful. The walking route isn’t that long but a couple of circuits makes up some distance. Recommend if you want a quick easy walk with a nice view, a refreshing retreat away from urban life. Thumbs up
Great Park to walk around, easy access. Beautiful views, can see for miles!! Perfect place for a morning stroll Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
A lovely place to wander.... I was looking for a dark sky location for some astro photography and the monument here will make for a great composition. There were a few ice cream vans which weren't expensive which was nice. It seemed a popular with boy racers though :
Went up to see the amazing aurora and was not disappointed. Was also amusing seeing the very confused and slightly paranoid faces of the evening car visitor's with the sudden arrival of many people on foot marching up to then staring up at the sky.
Great place for a walk with outstanding views
Nice wide open space with plenty of parking. Great looking War memorial on the top which is nicely kept to remember the fallen. A few picnic benches for extending your stay to enjoy the views.
A nice spot to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. However, it is frequently spoilt by boy racers and other undesirables. Being be highest point in the Midlands it has some nice views, particularly away from the main parking points.
A lovely place for a short walk and stunning views.. only thing letting it down is the dog and horse mess on the path from the memorial to the north car park
