Great looking station gives a good impression to people arriving at Barnsley visibly. Hence the star. Otherwise it's very poor indeed. Staff unhelpful and pass the problems to others. Stagecoach are not available on site to answer queries. Buses never show up on time or at all. Bus drivers often rude and pull out of stands early leaving you standing at the stand. And the biggest problem is kids. Young to teenage mostly smoking outside running around causing chaos inside. Bad language taking seats up even when they are not traveling. Leaving old folk to stand instead. Totally inconsiderate. Drugs also in station and tolerated drunks allowed in and on buses often with drinks in hand being abusive. Security have no control and often ignore these things. Police presence is minimal too often seen laughing with the youths whom are causing the disturbances. My advice stay away and get bus at the first stop after station. Saves on most of the agro. Especially when old people or young children and babies present. And avoid on home football games too. It's a dangerous place to be.
The stands I take are punctual and only early or late by 5 mins max. Other stands I’ve noticed aren’t as well so around 30% of the buses around interchange are bit more off. The looks of it are immaculate, when in a rush but then a closer look you’ll notice how untidy it can be

First visit by train to Barnsley and found the close proximity of the bus station very useful. Nice array of shops for snacks and drinks and nice it's all under cover.
Barnsley Train Station have an on-going problem of passengers being approached by non-passengers asking for money. Intimidating for some people.
