Unfortunately I agree with the previous review, I have to make my money go further and have always used charity shops as a means to do so, but when they are changing £10-20 for winter coats which are cheaper new from Primark there is something wrong

Charity shops have become victims of Neo liberalism, they have sold themselves out and in so doing they are beginning to alienate themselves from the customer base who really do need to benefit from cheaper products. Charity shops get most of their products donated for free, so whatever they sell, the product as a 100 per cent mark up. Now the counter argument which will be defensively returned, is that they now have operational costs to factor in, such as paying managers, transport and the normal bills etc. but still the mark up is 100 percent even afternoon such deductions! Some charity shops are better than others even with the huge hikes in pricing strategies and some are just down right greedy. I walked into this shop today and noticed the prices on a few things, such as a outdoor coat, hiking boots at £50 and 30 respectively. This is just an obscenity to the business of 'charity' and yes, that is a deliberate irony! It's now all about them becoming victims of the Neo liberal business culture ,capitalistic motivations, profit margins and performance indicators. I see a time approaching where they will literally becomes victims of their own success. People will vote with their feet by walking in, observing the ridiculous pricing strategies and glib justifications from paid managers and then turning on their heals and walking out without spending a penny. The shops windows may be better dressed these days, the interiors organised in a business like profile but if people spend less, it serves no real meaning or purpose. When the time comes to transcend the sychopant culture of modern business dynamics in the charity sector the best way to succeed will be to price lower, sell more and keep a healthy turnover. In so doing the objective of making money for the intended cause and engage the community in affordable up cycling will be far more advantageous for all.
