Staff are rude. My children were looking through the toys and was asked not to squeeze the toys that are actually designed to be played with by squeezing them. Felt like we had eyes on us. We purchased from the 3 for £1 bin and left. We won’t be coming or donating here again thanks to this lady
They have some very nice things donated, as I've seen people walk through the doors with quality and/or expansive looking items. Not sure if it has been approved by the regional manager but I'm assuming most likely by the store manager, staff get first dibs on goods. Some staff aren't approachable or polite. It's nice to know, they can have 'bring your problems to work day'. Don't believe they got the memo on professionalism and good customer service though. I purchased a really nice floor lamp from here. Had my eagle eyes not seen it at the back of the store and my claim to it not staked, I very much doubt it would have made it to the shop floor, like MANY of the good quality items donated. Management: Do better. Employees and/or volunteers: Stop being vultures and hoarding the nice things for yourselves. And for F sake: Stop being lazy. Keep the footwear in pairs as you receive them and use bands to keep them together. Not everyone has a good back! Calling health and safety...
Sorry for the negative feedback. I donate at this shop on a regular basis and the staff are always pleasantandd helpful. Today though my experience was entirely different. I got there at ten to 4. Admittedly close to closing 4pm to be greeted by locked doors. With the staff inside seemingly not interested i turned to leave when another lady arrived with a few bags. As she arrived a man from in the store came, opened the door and preceeded to tell me the "store is full? And they cant take any more bags". I replied "i didnt have any bags, just a single table" to be met with "sorry we don't do furniture" which is untrue i have taken furniture to the store many times. The man from the store then told me they shut early to close on time?? Before asking would i work for free?" Unfortunately enough for him i work from 8 to 6pm in customer service and so often stay late to assist a customer if they are running late. Its a shame he treated me the way he did. Manners cost nothing. He literally only had to take the table inside.
Children’s books are good value. I have bought board games twice and they were incomplete. Big bins of clothes people appear to like to have a rummage but I think it’s lazy and untidy. Shoes are not even paired. Staff are pleasant and seem to know customers which is nice.
Not as good as it used to be. The quality of what's for sale in the shop is very poor despite good things being donated. Although the clothing bins are uncomfortable and hard to look through, at least before there were 6+ full bins with lots inside. Now there are 3 or 4 half full of mostly polyester womens clothes. Coats are now £4 each instead of £1 but again stained or cheap quality and mixed in with everything else, surely these could be separate on a rail? One bin each of bags, kids clothes, soft toys and one of shoes which are not paired and impossible to look through. Perhaps using the shelving for shoes would be a better solution. There's a much lower variety of curios, jewellery and bric a brac, not sure why these were removed. Tables of plates etc, some furniture and a good choice of DVDs. It's a shame a few years ago there was lots to buy here, now the shop is quite barren and only tat or new amazon goods. Management seems to think that everything old is "vintage" and so the price is set too expensive to sell. A lot goods are priced at the maximum or more than their worth, so stay stuck in the shop, rather than priced reasonably for quick turn over to stop the shop being full and donations rejected. Whoever is pricing doesn't seem to have an idea of real world value. It seems that most of the quality donations are shipped out to other stores or sold wholesale. The current concept and structure of the shop needs a major rethink, sadly a visit is rarely worth it recently.
Staff are so nice. Much nicer than paid staff in regular shops. A real credit. Also lovely and easy to drop off stock to thanks to the easy pull up car park. We always use this shop to donate to and usually come away with an item or two for some great prices. The little kid’s toy display is well placed by the till! Always tempts my kids to spend their pocket/chore money. Thanks for all your hard work guys.
The staff sells items without pricing, determining prices based on arbitrary criteria such as how much they can extract from the customer or the salesman's mood, which is a bad practice. Rude management and staff have been highlighted in numerous customer reviews. It's disheartening that Bernardos seems to prioritise customer service too little.
Nice and affordable shopping with amazing team of staff.
It's been an absolute pleasure being a volunteer in the Quinton donation centre for the past 3 years. We have amazing customers, donors and everyone here works towards our common goal of helping raise funds for the crucial children's services that Barnardo's provide. As you can imagine a DC With it's various responsibilities, such as supplying other stores, retailing direct to the public and sorting of bulk donations can be quite a challenge BUT it's one we all do our very best to meet with a 'can-do' approach and a positive attitude. We are constantly evolving, listening to new ideas / feedback and acting on them. We've just undergone a huge reorganisation of the store and now our bargains are even easier to find! We NEVER want our customers or donors to leave unhappy and will always go the extra mile to accomodate them in any way possible Carrying items to and from cars, giving advice and recommendations and generally having lots of banter!. I can honestly say that everyone in this donation centre gives their absolute best!
It's quite a big shop, so lots of room for all sorts of things you no longer want or need. I donated some collector's plates, plus some books. The lady at the counter was very nice and cheerful.
