Barleyfields is a great riding school. Both my daughters have lessons here. They have group & private lessons, the instructors are all very patient and encouraging. The ponies/horses are all looked after well & loved by the staff and riders. The staff are helpful & kind and happy to try to accommodate customer requests if possible. Booking a lesson is straightforward and well managed. My daughters love coming Barleyfields Equestrian Centre.
My 5 year old daughter has been riding with Barleyfields Equestrian Centre for just over a year where she rides semi private lessons with her friend. The staff are very encouraging, nurturing and knowledgeable. I don't think my daughter would have made the progress she has without them. They also run sessions throughout the school holidays and there is lots of choice depending on ability. The ponies are very cute and well looked after. I would recommend Barleyfields Equestrian Centre to anyone.
An amazing yard, that looks after the horses and ponies! Been having lessons here on my own horse for a few months and the improvement is incredible. Love the people and staff that work there.
The girls are lovely but the teacher I was given was very rude. She didn’t listen to me, and was defensive if I asked questions. Even though I had explained I had had a serious accident and could not ride big horses the horse I was presented with was 17.2. I could not cope with the length of his stride so got off, they brought another smaller horse down but the teacher felt it necessary to make a derogative comment about me to the girl bringing the horse down obviously thinking I would not hear it. It was totally unnecessary and mean. She wasn’t a good teacher, just liked to lecture and patronise. I personally now would not rate this school as if they can’t be supportive, encouraging and kind, what are they doing
What a fantastic afternoon at Barleyfields! The jumpers were amazing and very brave !!! The warm welcome made the atmosphere so enjoyable. The event was really well-organized and lots of fun for the whole family. The BBQ was delicious, and the VIP seat for my mum was such a thoughtful touch . Thanks for an amazing afternoon
Really disappointing. I had previously ridden at Barleyfields for many years and was considering returning as now getting back into riding. I have always suggested the school as somewhere to look at as I have many contacts in the industry. I voiced a concern regarding a social media post promoting poor horse welfare, and the actions of the owners were disappointing. Perhaps the lack of concern over horse welfare is why the riding school is no longer approved by the BHS EDIT I am well aware of the Thellwell poniy cartoons, however the photo was of a Shetland pony at your establishment with the slogan ‘built for feed not speed’ clearly you had an issue with my concern as you deleted my post and blocked me from your facebook page.
Me and my husband had booking with them few times and we like one of the instructors who thought us how to ride properly and we wanted to book with her again and ask them about booking for an hour lesson with her. However when we got there, they said we booked for 30mins however it was their fault so they will put us in with 30 mins lessons and 30 mins trekking, we were expecting at least trotting whilst trekking due to we both know how to trot however the woman who was on our lesson just said walk, trot and the other one took us out wasn't even bother to take she was on her phone all the way down walking slowly and we were just sitting on the horse and waste money. I rang up, ask again can we book with the lady who thought us but she is give a notice to quit there and no apologies or anything what they've done disorganized, don't bother about what we want to learn, etc . I've been here for lessons multiple times but what a disappointment how they do.
I have brought my own horse here for a lesson and my boyfriend had his first ever riding lessons here with a school horse and I was really impressed both times with the instructors and the owners. My experience when I brought my own pony did not go to plan as she would not behave herself - nothing to do with the school but the owners, instructors and other girls in the lesson there were 8 of us were so kind and really tried to help and still included me in their lesson as much as possible despite her behaviour. We were really impressed with Nina the instructor when she gave my partner his first ever lesson, she was non judgemental and patient! He definitely improved by the end of his session haha. The lesson did start 10 mins late but we did still get a full 30 mins I’ve always found everyone so friendly and welcoming. We will be back.
Amazing owners and staff - They look after our horses as if they were their own xxx
Don’t waste your money as these owners are rip offs! Every lessons had a different horse which I get, every lesson we had a different instructor. One lesson pony wasn’t ready therefore missed 10 minutes of 30 minute lesson but still got charged for 30 minutes. Another lesson sent to wrong arena so missed another 10 minutes but still got charged for 30 minutes. Yes did complain and it got shrugged off! Had a lesson booked and had to cancel due to my daughter testing positive for covid but as it was less than 24 hours notice, still got charged and had to pay full price of £37 for the lesson! Owners have no customer service and quite nasty via email. Not concerned at all about my 11 year old daughter! There are plenty more riding schools therefore I will take my custom elsewhere!
