Jay Swaminarayan nBAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London is one of the most beautiful and spiritual places in the UK. This is truly England’s biggest Swaminarayan Mandir and it feels like a holy heaven on earth. The moment you step inside, everything becomes peaceful and pure. The environment is so calm that you automatically start feeling positive from inside.nnThe mandir’s aesthetic architecture is mind-blowing. The detailing, the carvings, the structure, the design — everything is perfect and traditional. The wood work is outstanding, so fine and beautifully crafted that it feels like an artwork made with full devotion. Every small design shows culture, religion and dedication.nnThe highlight is the huge statue of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, which looks extremely divine and inspiring. Just standing near it gives you a spiritual energy and a special kind of calmness. You can take a deep breath and feel a holy vibe around you, like your mind becomes silent and relaxed.nnOverall, this mandir is not only a religious place but also a place of peace, beauty and blessings. A must visit place in London for sure.nJay Swaminarayan
The photographs don’t really do any justice for this most beautiful building, but these offer an idea of a truly magical place and an experience we had. Everyone here is just so welcoming and kind, everyone is keen to explain and share their way of life here. We learned so much about their Culture and Religion, the building alone is such an eye opener and amazing sight to see. You can watch and observe ceremonies or view their exhibition like we did, we really felt peaceful in our time here. Whether you have a religion or not you must visit this beautiful place, you will be bowled over with the kindness of these fine people. Our thanks to Amish who made us so welcome on arrival, well in fact ever did. We shall visit here again.
This place is amazing!!! I'm super impressed!! The architecture with all the small details looked stunning! Also, the staff was super polite and friendly. Free parking and free entrance, which isn't typical for London. Highly recommend visiting!
It was amazing to visit this functioning Hindu temple. The staff and worshipers Bhaktas are so proud of this beautiful temple and are eager to tell you about how it was built in India and shipped in pieces to London, where the pieces were assembled. They also tell you about Hindu beliefs. The staff I'm assuming they are volunteers are not pushy and don't try to convert visitors. They simply tell you what they believe with the utmost respect for all visitors. It is a calm and peaceful environment throughout. Admission is free, but donations are accepted via card or cash.nnHere's a short guide to tell you what to expect when visiting. Please note that photos inside the temple are NOT allowed.nn1 Security - your bags will be inspected and you must pass through a metal detector. Large bags are not allowed in the temple, but there is free bag storage across the street run by the temple.nn2 Enter the temple - you must remove your shoes upon entering. There is a free shoe storage area, separated for men and women. Loos are at the entrance shoes are required for the loos!.nn3 Staff will meet you to give you a short introduction to the temple's construction and history.nn4 Documentary - you can watch an optional documentary video, which is about 15 minutes. The documentary goes into further details about how the temple was made in India and assembled in London.nn5 Visit the optional Hindu exhibit - £2 entry per visitor concession discount available. You can skip this if you like, but it's worth visiting it's located along the way to the Mandir, or main temple. It takes about 30 minutes to see the entire exhibit.nn6 Mandir - this is the main temple where the services Puja take place. This is also the room where the shrines Murti are located. You'll be greeted by staff who will give you information about the room, Murti, and how the Murti are cared for. You can also walk outside to admire the view from the top of the temple.nn7 Puja - a service takes place at 11.45. It's definitely worth observing the Puja. It lasts about 15-20 minutes.nn8 Gift shop - you can skip this if you like.nn9 Lunch - have lunch at the temple's restaurant across the street, called the Shayona Restaurant. This restaurant specialises in traditional vegetarian Hindu food. You can order á la carte or have the all you can eat buffet. I recommend the buffet so you can taste everything. It's amazing food!nnHonestly, this was such a fascinating and eye opening visit. I can't recommend it enough.
