We had a drinking table as we were intrigued by their cocktails. Experience wise: 4/5 Seats inside are nice in general, but could be more considerate with the lighting. As a few tables, including ours, get blasted in the face by the light. And really we just have to deal with it. Service wise: 3/5 I’m not expecting over-enthusiastic chat with the staff, as I’m a little introverted too. But the service last night felt very distant. For which, I could be wrong, since we had a drinking table. Maybe if we order food next time there’s more interaction? Drinks wise: 4/5 Gin-berry crumble was absolutely stunning. The score is mainly thanks to this drink see the pink short drink in the photo. Gingerbread and apple flavours really compliment the drink. The foam on the top made me want to chew on it. Consistency - 100%! Likelihoods of a second visit - 2/5
Bit of a wait for the main course to arrive but it did seem busy for a Monday lunchtime. The food when it arrived was very tasty and we all enjoyed our mains. I had the Thai red curry which was spicy but delicious. We all shared the mini Nutella doughnuts, yum yum. The restaurant is very handy for the railway station.
I was struggling to give this restaurant 3 or 4 stars, if I give it a 3 coz the service is a bit slow, and the chicken skewer that I ordered was a bit plain and tasteless. But I rate it a 4 stars at last because the waiter was very polite, he came to us a few times before our food arrived telling us that it wouldn’t be long though actually it did take quite a long time but I appreciate his effort for reassurance. The menu offered quite a wide range of choice, the other food we ordered seem to be more tasty than the chicken skewer that I had. Seatings are comfortable, decoration is cosy, close to the train station which is very convenient.
Pie and gravy was nice, chips were average and the meal definitely could have done with more vegetables. Half price meals for January means the meals are great value for money for their quality. The cocktails are ok but are definitely not worth their full price value, even for London they would be pricey. Half price is actually a true reflection of the quality. Food came out fairly quickly, as did the drinks. Place wasn't too buzy, mostly filled with young women making use of the unlimited prosecco option. Staff were friendly and helpful. Heating needed to be turned down a few degrees, not sure if the person in charge is a friolero or if they just want you to buy more cold drinks :D
Even if the weather isn’t the greatest the covered area outside offers a great spot for lunch while watching the world go by, in the perfect place in the city centre. There’s a decent enough food menu but the club sandwich was incredible, with some of the best chips I’ve had as an inclusive side. Admittedly prices aren’t cheap but equally aren’t excessive for what’s provided. Service was fast, presentation was great and the staff fun; I’m looking forward to going back!
Food was nice, however we got 50% and I don't think I would have liked to pay full price for what I got. I ordered a bowl which was mainly a salad and not sure if it was worth the original price, added a side of fries too. Some nice cocktails, often sour and lots of ice though. They didn't tell us that the kitchen had closed after we had our mains so it was too late and we were unable to have desserts.
The bottomless brunch here is lovely! The staff are very attentive and kept our drinking flowing and the food was beautiful! All fresh, tasty and good portion sizes. We will definitely return ! We had a vegan guest and a guest with a nut allergy and they were both catered for brilliantly, in fact I’ll be having the vegan breakfast next time
Food brilliant, ater came in glass bottles, downside water tasted very chlorinated couldn't drink it. Building beautiful, built over 3 floors. Basement, ground floor, second floor. Toilets on basement level. The decor very dated and shabby, stairs looked grubby. Ladies toilets, too dark and can't wash your hands without banging your head on the lights. No good for anyone with disabilities that I could see. Service amazing.
Like all chain venues the term 'restaurant' cannot be used. Pretty sure that all the food was prepared in a tin shed in The Midlands and shipped here in a van to be re-heated. That wouldn't matter so much, but for the fact that we had to order it weeks in advance. Even then, two people at my table were told that their choice would not be available. My Macaroni cheese was worth about £1.00, not £10.50. Finally, we had to pay a £10.00 deposit months ahead, and when one of our party went down with Covid he doesn't get a refund. The poor waiter was terrified and stressed out all evening with no customer engagement at all. So it's win win for Banyan. I know you all go there to get a quick bite before an evening of drinking. Probably countless other joints in Leeds are equally as bad, but really this is just effortless service and the customer should get more these days.
I went to a bottomless dinner. The food and atmosphere were great but I felt there was a better way to do 'bottomless' rather than having to constantly take individual drink orders. The staff however, worked so hard and were lovely to our big party.Food: 3/5
