Heard from a lot of people about Banny’s famous fish and chips so went to give a try for myself. The fish was very nice and crispy and so were the chips. Portion size was also very good. The spicy option with chillies is the one I got and it went down quite well!
Went here because the reviews mentioned gluten-free thank you!. The staff were very knowledgeable about what I could eat the service was great. They also provided gf vinegar which was a nice touch as most use malt. This is the best gluten-free battered fish I've had. My companion LOVED the lemon & pepper fish & the salt and pepper chips. Really enjoyed our meals and wish we had a Banny's near us! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Disappointed with my meal today !! We have never had any problems and go a few times a month. So this is there fish we got and this was the second chance and still came out the same the batter you couldn’t eat !! Not happy
One off the last places I visited in 2022 was @bannys. Another one that had been on my list a long time, I visited the branch in Burnley Trafalgar St, Burnley BB11 1TQ .. they also have another branch in Colne - the Burnley one also had a drive through and indoor seating however Colne only has indoor seating. Had to order what this place is famous for ‘Indian Fish & Chips’ which was Haddock strips marinated in Bannys own secret Indian seasoning then battered in a golden crispy coating. Drizzled with a yoghurt & mint sauce & sprinkled with fresh spring onions, red chili & coriander, comes with chips.. had to get curry sauce along with it! Honestly 10/10 good portions size too and flavours unreal Will 100% be back
Really disappointed as usually we get good food even though quite expensive. Chips were good. HOWEVER the battered haddock was soaked in fat and besides contributing to my cholesterol did not complement the chips. Considering we paid £16 for haddock and chips, kentucky strips and a can of Fanta and the tables were grubby not an overall good experience. We noticed others having to clean their own tables too. You need to "smarten up" before your quality slips and stays low.
Trying something different, tikka fish and chips. Was ok. You get two pieces of fish. The fish was ok but the batter was too overcooked. The end could not be cut with plastic knife. I like the veg you get with the chips. Chips were ok. Drive thru experience was ok but don't expect it to be fast. That fish needs to be fried.... The curry sauce was ok but tad bit too salty.
Absolutely loved the tikka flavour fish and chips and topped it off with the curry definitely recommend and super fresh too. Be prepared to wait a little and it's so worth the visit!
Thoroughly enjoyed the tikka fish and salt and pepper chips, what a nice change it made. Also we had a regular haddock which was also very nice. Lovely food and portion size, worth the money.
Most of the time.. places don’t live up to the hype but Bannys absolutely does. It was worth a 40min trip from Manchester. I had the Tikka Fish and Chips and make sure you get the curry sauce on the side!! I poured the sauce over and OMG this was real soul food. Will be back for sure!
The food looked good on the outside but wasn’t up to my quality on the inside . The chips were hard ,burnt and dry . No decent sauces . Staff were very rude . Would not recommend again to anyone .Not going back
