Nice gym facilities and classes.! I got 50% discount for February.! I was working out in Edinburgh uni gym. Compared to uni gym…. The Bannatyne Health Club is amazing place. Easy to book all group sessions.!
Really terrible customer service. Tried to use the service as a guest; a one day pass only to be turned away as I apparently needed a form of ID to do that which made no sense but the rules are the rules I guess. Even after offering to show a digital version, I was still turned away with the staff being rude about it. Only for me to come back again, met another front of house person and didn't get asked for ID- just registered me on the computer and sent off on my way?? It is quite an expensive place to visit £25 day pass or £15 if with a member but that's neither here nor there. The gym and pool services were decent though, although the swimming pool was quite cold compared to the jacuzzi. The facilities are all on different floors too. You have to hire a towel if you didn't bring one. Again expensive £2.50 considering what you already pay for as a day pass. The changing rooms were decent although some showers were only giving cold water. I recommend having a shower at the first cubicle as if you go to the end one, the water from other cubicles flow into yours which is where the drain is. Not a great experience on my way out either with the staff being rude when asking a question about a towel return.
so you have to hire towels and robes if you want them, don't expect them to be free even if you've booked a spa treatment. The spa was nice as was the massage and facial. The pool is large and has a strict lane system in place, the jacuzzi is cold and the sauna/steam room are OK but given the amount of times people keep opening the door it's never warm enough to actually do anything. Changing rooms are quite a walk from the pool area.
I’ve been a member at this gym for 6 months. Happy to say i’m disappointed. The staff are great, However the gym is very dated and small for what you’re paying. The classes are great and the fact they’re included in the price but the actual gymnasium itself is very small. The Pool area is good hot tub is great but the sauna and steam room is a wee bit small however it’s still very good steam. The toilets and changing rooms are cleaned regularly which is also very good. But sad to say i’ve had to move to a bigger gym.
Really good variety of activities and swimming pool for a very affordable price. If you want to go for yoga lessons in Edinburgh you will have to pay minimum twice per month of what I pay with my membership with lot of classes included. 100% recommended the yoga teacher on Monday evenings and Zumba teacher on Tuesday evenings. They are great!
I received a spa day with 3 treatments as a Christmas gift, treatments were really nice and the girl was really lovely. Went into Sauna/steam room after, wasn't as clean as I would expect and the toilet by the pool were that dirty that I ended up walking all the way back upstairs to the changing room toilets.
Gym equipment isnt very good what so ever. Very very low end Technogym equipment. Pool is quite good, doesn't smell and is very clean. Good temperature but as it can't have a life guard it's very shallow. Sauna is very nice but there isn't any hot coals or anything to increase the temperature. Overall I do not recommend as it's a VERY expensive gym. Get yourself a PureGym membership and go to a different pool if you care about that part. Don't even think about the spa unless you're a millionaire. On a good note the changing rooms are nice and there's a machine to dry your swimming shorts. Definitely take a tour and don't pay anything over £40 a month. student membership is £36
Extremely disappointed with the facilities. The jacuzzi was out of service when we went and no staff notified us of this, prior to booking or on arrival just a cold pool of water with a sign. The pool temperature was cold and area was small. Steam room just did not smell right. Sauna was the only happy point, the massages we received were wonderful and the staff downstairs were lovely. Very disappointed for what was supposed to be a birthday treat for a friend.
The staff were great for the most part however the spa/changing rooms/showers/stairwells & most of the interior are crying out for a renovation and upgrade as they look shabby and tired. Having to rent a towel for £3.50 is not great and the towel itself was poor quality. Not impressed on the whole. I’m sorry duncan but I’m out.
I don’t understand the bad reviews about this place! I was over visiting Edinburgh I’m a member of a different Bannatynes and loved this gym so much that I came back three times. The younger PT guy was very friendly, smiley and helpful when I asked for advice - he’s a true credit to the place. The gym floor is very modern with pretty much everything you need! The process of going down to the pool was a little odd initially, but once I got used to it it was fine. The pool, jacuzzi, steam room/sauna were all great. What’s not to like and recommend!
