Easy to find as u take the underground to BANK station using central line. The bank is located on ur left side from exit 2 from the underground station. We need to get our old notes change before leaving London as they no longer using the papers note starting September this year if not mistaken. The guard is not very friendly even the staff. Make sure u have ur proof of ur residential address from ur hometown example ur driving license or ID card together with ur passport with u if u wanna get the old notes change like us. We tried many other banks before coming here and they won’t change ur old notes for u unless you have an account with their bank.
Visiting the Bank of England museum is a lesson in Economics and a good venue for school trips. It is free to visit, very well organised and you can also take a free audio/visual guide which contains a large amount of information on each room. Apart from learning about the role and function of the Bank of England, you can learn about the production and development of Bank notes, from the early days of hand written transferable promissory notes for gold depodits to the modern note. It was fascinating to see the old notes of the 1960's which I just remember; The large printed one pound note.
Museum average, school children were bored. BOUGHT 2 CUPS FROM MUSEUM SHOP AFTER WASHING ONLY ONCE THEY ARE PEELING, VERY POOR AT INFLATED PRICES LIKE THE BANK
I went to exchange some old twenty pound bills that went out of circulation and spent some time at the museum. It was time well spent. I enjoyed learning about the history of the bank, its architects, and was intrigued about how busy and crowded it was in the bank on the dividend day. A display of all the Bank of England notes was among my favorites, and of course who would refuse touching the real gold!
Wanted to give a big shout out to security and staff for a great service with smile. I arrived at 2.10pm to exchange some old bank notes and had to line up outside of the building. Security was communicative and let us know in advance if we would be able to make it tip: give yourself at least 60-75 min since the bank shuts at 3pm. Once inside, the staff was friendly and provided us forms to fill out and we had to line up again for the teller. Despite the wait, everything went smoothly and atmosphere was great. Make sure to bring 2 forms of ID.
Came here today to swap an old 5 British pounds note and an old 10 Irish pounds note. Queue was outside of the door and moving extremely slowly. Staff was friendly but it took 1.5 hour to get two silly bank notes exchanged for new ones. Happy that they do exchange them, but there must be a more efficient way than this.
I came from Canon Street station as I didn’t want to keep changing lines. Very easy. Come out Turn Right” and cross the street between the buildings. Then I Turn Right” again to cross the street. It’s like 1-2 minutes away from Bank Station. The Bank of England is just across Royal Exchange building. The guards were friendly and helpful. I thought it will be a long queue. But less than 40 mins am done. The Teller just asked a few questions and she’s very helpful. Good experience.
We went there in early September to exchange old notes. If you want to exchange under £250, they will bring you to the fast line. Make sure you bring an ID and a document to show your address. On their website, it lists all the documents they accept. I was there for nearly one hour. Some people had issues so it took them extra time. I had my documents ready and the whole process took less than 10 minutes.
Beautiful intersection in London. Overcrowded with tourists.
Quickly popped in here to change some notes, wasn't really busy when I went but I was told if you plan to visit after 10ish, depending on which day of the week, it does get busy. All on all, was perfectly fine.
