A great Doctors surgery with a lot to offer in terms of specialist health care. Ballater Surgery has a variety of ways to help their patients receive care quickly and effectively, regardless if you have a busy schedule and find it difficult to fit in an appointment. Firstly there is the traditional way of calling in the morning and afternoon to get an emergency appointment. Secondly an automated system and lastly an email triage system where a patient can send in the picture or write about the problem for the Doctor or nurse to consider and respond to either by return email or phone call. This i have found valuable especially as my work is not the best for allowing time off. There are nurses at the practice and a great maternity midwife too who holds appointments once or twice a week. The Doctors, Receptionists and one of the Nurses is always professional, friendly and make the effort. There is also a Dental surgery too but I have not visited this as yet as I use another. Worth signing up for.

Helpful and knowledgeable doctors. The reception staff are friendly. The triage (by email and telephone) service they offer is fantastic - saves wasted time coming in for a regular appointment, and means they can help more people in the same amount of time. A very good service.

The email and telephone triage service is excellent. I got a response within an hour of sending my email.

They have great GPs and also do a fabulous work with the NHS messaging system avoiding unneeded trips tot he GP.

Shocking - 2 week waiting time for appointments then when you do arrive, reception invariably has no record of it and suggest you make another! If employed full time and already taking time off, this doesn't really work. Have resorted to going private however Ballater are even incapable of providing an accurate referral letter - extremely unhelpful! No further assistance as requested re referral however it would seem a negative review will prompt an immediate response - in under 20 minutes of posting the above I received a phone call from a GP claiming that I am misrepresenting the surgery! I am simply conveying my personal experience and having asked at the request of Axa; what type of consultant I need to be referred to and are there any consultants who you would specifically recommend? I don't feel "it's just an ultrasound it will be an Ultrasonographer. I don't know of any." is an adequate response when it's already been suggested I have a tear in my calf and am seeking advice!
