Lovely, lovely lunch with friendly staff. Double Rarebit was delicious with a cut of bread so thick that the bottom remained crispy while the top held the cheesy sauce. Poached eggs made it extra luxurious. Sausage bap with chutney and ginger parsnip soup was lovely. Sausages were crispy on the outside and savory within. Ginger parsnip soup was piping hot and warmed me right up!
The food was exceptional! Both the rarebit and the Baldrys stack were faultless. The loose leaf tea, latte and hot spiced apple drink were also delicious. We sat outside which was pleasant even with a gentle drizzle. Would definitely recommend and also return to eat there again.
The best Lake District coffee shop we’ve ever been to! Great coffee and a selection of delicious cakes. Lovely surroundings- the tables are well spread out and the cafe has lots of character. Plus, they serve cakes on lovely bond china! PS, check out the toilets!
After a long walk Baldy's was just what we needed. The gingerbread was delicious and a huge slice. Loved the china cups, tea always tastes better from a china cup. My husband had scone and clotted cream which he said was very good. We even took a piece of chocolate cake home as a treat for our son. Will definitely be back and would recommend.
One of the best tea rooms in Grasmere. Brilliant selection of cakes, baked and hot food. Fantastic specials. Unforgettable Welsh Rarebit. Always on the top of my list when I visit.
We always call in here when walking via Grasmere but normally for coffee and cake. Today we had the full English breakfast and what a treat, all local produce and you could tell what high quality ingredients they were. Delicious.Food: 5/5
Really enjoyed it in here, had the leek and potato soup with a ham bap and it was very good. Soup was hot and tasted brilliant and the bap was nice with some very nice fresh ham. Good feel to the place inside also with a decent amount of seating. A bit on the pricey side but probably worth it, had an amazing hot chocolate aswell service was nice and fast.
We visited Balfry's on a Sunday morning in Grasmere - the tearoom was busy but we managed to get seated straight away. We went for the rarebit with a poached egg and bacon, and the full english, both were delicious! The service was great, really friendly and smiley. Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby
We had tea comprising of scones, apple crumble and two types of tea. It was just awesome and awfully delicious.
Really nice place to rest eat and admire the decorations in this place. Food is great and they claim it is mainly home made. My soup was good and other dishes were well presented and tasty including the scones. You need to visit the toilet as they haven't cut any corners here neither. The fittings are by the famous Thomas Crapper who was an English businessman / plummer who patented many bathroom fittings we use today. They owned the first bath , toilette and sink. Also his surname is widely used in the industry today. . So now you know why Baldry's is worth a visit even if you're not hungry. Wash your hands and use their extraordinary soap and hand cream. No corners cut in this place. The only reason why I can't give this lovley place the 5 , it is because they are reserved for Michelin, Rosette, etc achievements.
