Beautiful lake, well signed and easy to get to. Parking is free for disabled and £3 for 4 hrs. I wouldn't say it's wheelchair friendly though! More walking stick friendly. There is construction going on to the far side at the moment so walking is limited in that section. If your paddle boarding or boating there's lessons and equipment hire available. It was very busy when we arrived, around midday, so we went out the entrance turned left and walked along until we came to the first lay by, if you go over the lay by you'll see steps descending to where you can walk next to the lake or even pitch up in a quiet little bay there which we saw a couple of families doing. There is a sign up warning about green algae on the water here! We had our dogs with us but kept them away from the water and had fresh bottles of water and a travel bowl for them. The walk takes you though a wooded area up onto a walkway that leads to steps ascending to another lay by, we chose to walk back on the wide path as it was a hot day and I didn't want the dogs out overheating, but on another occasion we would like to carry on the walk. I think it took us around 1 and a half hrs to do the walk. When we got back to the car park many people had left so we found a shaded spot for the dogs and had a picnic while enjoying the picturesque setting.
View is nice, lovely place, specially when you on the way. But about lake, specially swimming is not good, you should have special shoes, otherwise its to painful for walking barefoot, evening time have lot of small flys and they bite you. My all face are red and scrunching. But anyway is wild nature. For bbq is nice place, you can enjoying anyway. But im not sure if im going in there again.
A494 52°54'22.8"N 3°36'23.5"W Bala Lake or Llyn Tegid is just stunning. The colour of the water and the reflections for a photographer are incredible. You can swim and boat on this lake too. There are also watersports if you fancy. It is a peaceful lake with good access by car. It is has quite a good size car park with good toilets. However get there early as it does get busy. You do have to pay for parking but the upkeep of the area is beautiful so I do not mind at all. You can drive around the whole lake around a small lane at the top. Views across the lake and Snowdonia mountains. You have to visit here if just to see it. My photos are from different times of day and seasons as I just love coming here.
Stunning spot for Kayaking, paddleboarding. Head to main car park or around the edges for smaller car parks and spots to get on the water. Amazing in summer with a really nice atmosphere.
Parked in the foreshore car park before 2 hours of paddle boarding. Ticket machines do take cards, and there is a cash ticket machine up by the toilets and changing rooms also. Beautiful spot in a lovely area, and once on the water we didn't notice the nearby road at all! A little windy out in the middle, and would strongly recommend anyone venturing out onto the water to heed the signage and wear suitable flotation aids.
Largest natural lake in Wales and softer looking than the rugged lakes of northern Snowdonia. Rolling green surroundings but with good mountain views of the Arans at the Southern end. Only home on earth to the Gwyniad fish since the last ice age. However, not seen Teggie the lake monster yet.
I went to Bala for a week whilst working with a local farmer, and I have to say the lake is astounding! Lovely place to sit and relax with the calm lake and the mountains in the background, there’s clearly signposted walking paths around the edge of the lake, and I highly recommend even just going for a leisurely drive around it as well. During sunny days there’s virtually always an ice cream van in the car park.
One of the most tranquil places on earth. The lake is beautifully clean and abundant with fish. Sailing here is a must or even just kicking back absorbing the serenity and nature of Y Bala. Definity the 'scouse caribean'.
Bala Lake is a beautiful place has free parking around lake. Great for swimming and walking with the family or kids. Has a train you can catch too and a cafe by the sailing club. You can walk to the high street or park in the town centre and walk to the lake. Also across the road there is a super river walk too.
First visit for quite a few years, kayaking the lake was fun! Park and launch £3.50 per day per craft.
