They have one of the best butter scones I have ever I had. The cream with it was super fresh and smooth. We also had an almond petal cake which was delicious. If I lived in the town, I’d go to them everyday to try all their lovely items. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They also have their own honey and eggs that I would recommend everyone to try.
Absolutely delish! Would most definitely recommend the cream tea… scones were served warm which made it extra soft. Would recommend sitting inside in the summer as the wasps surround you a little too much by the river on the benches. Myself and my little one had to leave early as they were a little too many. Apart from that the decor and presentation was beautiful.
Amazing stop if you are planning to spend some time in the town sitting by the water and relaxing. Grab a drink and definitely grab a pastry or snack. The collection looks amazing and we went with the sweet stuff. We had a pecan tart and an almond cake. Both hit the spot perfectly and we loved them till the last bite! People were sitting and having lunch which looked good but very few spaces to sit. A long queue is what attracted us to the place and it was worth the hype!
I wish I could give a better rating but I had not the best experience at Bakery on the Water. I like to order a bacon roll and cup of tea from Cafes and unfortunately I wasn't impressed. The tea pot came spilt and after pouring it was depressingly weak. The bacon roll left a lot to be desired too, very dry. The hospitality was great but it gets SO BUSY, not the best atmosphere for sitting in.
This is a fine artisan bakery located next to River Windrush, in the picturesque Cotswolds village called Bourton-on-the-water. The pastries here are delicious. A great place to have cream tea too. The scones were buttery soft, not crumbly.
Very good. One of Bourton's best. Staff are friendly and helpful. Just look at those cakes! Outdoor seating area at back of shop as well as inside..
Personally, I was quite disappointed with the cafe. The customer service was great - happy friendly staff. This gained an extra star, from what would have been a 2 star review. The food isn’t the best - the sausage roll was no better than Greggs, the quiche was watery and the vegetable turnover was oily. The americano however was delicious, and the cakes were okay. It’s a shame that the scones were sold out, as we were really looking forward to this.
Had a cream tea. Scones were very light and tasty. Bit stingy on the cream and jam especially for the price. Waited about 10 minutes and ate inside. Seating very uncomfortable. Has outside seating out back in the garden. Does get very busy. Staff friendly but wouldn't let me switch to a herbal tea instead of a normal tea or Americano coffee even though I offered to pay extra.
Visited this lovely little bakery while on a weekend away from the city. The shop was clean and tidy, with a great selection of products. My review today is just to say how Lovely all the staff were, and that I appreciate you all. I was saddened after asking the girl who was serving me “How are you!” The girl seem shocked and replied “No one really asks how we are doing”. She smiled and seem grateful for the gesture. Just a reminder to everyone… be polite to whoever you come into contact with. Simple taking the time to ask someone how they are doing, could make all the difference to someone’s day. Xx
Great Bakery Cafe - Lady serving was friendly making everyone feel very welcome - Coffee was good and the food was good too - It was a busy place but worth waiting for a seat or get a takeaway.
