An excellent independent deli. Fresh fruit and veg. Lots of prepared vegan, vegetarian, meat-based foods behind the counter. There’s even posh coffee to take away. Lots of health foods on the shelves, in the fridge and in the freezers. Make sure you grab a bunch of in season asparagus.
Been only once prior to this visit for a gift for someone. This time, I visited for some cakes and lunchtime treats. Both visits I have been impressed by the variety on offer and the catering to vegans etc. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and because its good food you don't mind paying a bit more than you would for similar items at bigger corporations. Definitely a local buisness to support and revisit.
Lovely staff and for all the coeliacs people they have a caste range of gr products including fresh pizza bases . Also party shell cases . Savoiardi gfbuscuits forget tiramisu . A Godsend . So happy Food: 5/5

Back's Deli has always been my favorite sandwich shop, been going for well over 10 years and would always rave to my friends about it. I haven't been for a while so I walked 2 miles in 30c heat just to get one of their sandwiches. I walk in and see the counter with all the lovely meats, cheeses, breads etc. I ask for my usual order only to be told they DON'T make sandwiches anymore! A sandwich shop that doesn't make sandwiches! I was told I would have to have their pre prepared sandwiches, I usually get the Pastrami and am lactose intolerant so I couldn't have the pre prepared pastrami sandwich they had already prepared. I walked back in 30c heat empty handed and due to my allergies and back's stupid decision am unable to go again Thoroughly disappointed :

Fine choice of beers, meats, fresh veg, cheese wish it wasn't shrink wrapped and excellent bread. Great soups. The manager puts some great tunes on in the background occasionally King Fatty etc... and the staff are friendly and efficient. Another Heaton gem.
Funny place. I love the range of produce available but ordering a sandwich is a confusing process. There's just too many options for my small mind to cope with and I end up going into buffet mode - just grabbing things that look good but don't necessarily work together! If I could suggest anything I would say, have a smaller menu of say 8 solid sandwiches, then if people want to customise they can. Other than that they have lovely staff and excellent alcohol range
Great range of food and drink. Particularly good for Mexican sauces, spices and dried chilies. Excellent beers. Very nice sandwiches and snacks as well as fresh and cured meats.
Awful food. I ordered a jacket with tuna. tuna was fine but it was masking a jacket potato that was old, brown and reheated. I feel I should write a review because it is disgusting to sell old potatoes when they are so cheap and easy to throw away. I am writing this as I feel so ill as a result of eating this contaminated food. Delicatessens should only serve the best and freshest food if they want a good reputation which this one does not deserve.
