Big store, plenty of stock with lots of choice. Builders yard and garden centre are useful. One downside with the plants is the compost is always very dry and it's likely that the plants are never watered. Shame as they are generally good value. Big car park with plenty of spaces.
Just popped into the shop for ready mix cement. They didn't have the one I was looking for! It was abit of a strange experience the shop was really dark like most of the bulbs had blown in the ceiling or maybe it was a energy saving measure
Visited the store today for compost with my 3 year old. I went to check if the compost i was looking for was available, it was so i asked a nearby member of staff if there was any trolleys available. The response "yes by the entrance, its not far" The trolley she was using was apparently not suitable for me so she continued with her work and ignored me whilst i struggled with the large bag. Bearing in mind i am quite heavily pregnant and had a small child with me to look after also, I felt like it was a golden opportunity for the member of staff to offer to help and carry the bag to the till. It wasnt to be.....so me being me i just chucked it on my shoulder and struggled to the till. Yes i could have gone back to the entrance and got a trolley and struggled to maneuver it through the store but i felt like the quicker easier option was to just carry it myself. Having come from a retail background I found it very disappointing and I will use an alternative store if I need to purchase anything in the future!
Visited to purchase wallpaper and paint. Was able to locate 1 of the chosen papers Holden Décor Statement Hadley Green significantly cheaper with another retailer. Previously had never considered using price match, however as i needed other items from the store I thought this would be convenient in this instance. After reading the price match policy in some detail, the item should have been covered yet TIM on the front desk was not prepared to offer the price match and was quite rude. I was disappointed that rather than refer to the B&Q website text I had printed he simply said "I don't care what that says, I have always done it like that." Not a great experience. On the other hand I was extremely grateful for the help of SUE in the paint mixing department, who was able to support with matching my wall paper colours and mixing the paint.
This will probably remain my favourite 'toy' store. I love the range and the layout and the staff. I feel B&Q could perhaps do a little better on price, sometimes, but I will always end up going in and coming out with far more than I planned to buy.
Good parking, easy access, plenty of varieties in plants, good quality and fair prices.
Their mop heads are incompatible with their mop handles. So annoying! I cut my hand trying to connect them together. What’s the point in these small, unmarked incompatibilities?
B&Q Chippenham, Jon M on the Timber Saw Section, was very friendly & helpfull. He cut our timber to the size we needed so it would fit into our car. We was still looking for other products in the store to complete the project cat play, climbing, seating area my partner was making for our Bengal cats, when Jon M saw we need some help, & he came over & helped us source all the items we needed. He is the most helpful & friendly member of your staff, even when weather is so cold if all your staff was as nice & helpfull as Jon M, you would have the most amazing store. A big thank you Jon M for your time & help
A smaller B&Q store, with a great variety when considering it's size. The staff are always lovely, and helpful. I rarely need to go to the larger store in the area Swindon.
Decent selection of bits. But it was very expensive on certain items. Head over to toolstation, which is part of the same company but sell the items at a fraction of the cost.
