Girvan, omg I love girvan I love visiting the public toilets
Only facilities are toilets and a vending machine. No waiting g room so have to stand on a cold, draughty platform. Outside looks like a bombs hut it when though its been years since the fire. Council/ scotrail need to get their fingers out. So unsightly as a first impression for visitors.
This station need a complete overhaul. Been five years since the fire. From ayr to dumfries cost £38.30 for 2 passengers. Unbelievable price for a single destination via multiple locations. Not very consumer friendly and my pocket still feels the sting.
I do love coming to Ayr station, it's kind of quirky with a hint of old school to it. The previous station is undergoing renovation but it's taking an age, but the replacement area suits just fine. The ticket machines could use an update there's only one of them but it's a clean and comfortable station, open plan, only one bridge. Canny enough.
Only 3 stars because I'm a sentimental fool. Successive local governments have effectively destroyed the town centre by a combination of neglect and stupidity.nEvery other shop closed with smashed doors and weeds growing out of every gutter.nUntold resources put into hanging baskets while a few feet further up it looks like the Amazon rainforest has taken root.nThe sheer lack of imagination and the criminal neglect is staggering to the casual observer.
