It was a really good little place to visit, they couldn't get anymore interesting things if they tried, but for us it was the house, it is amazing walking around the way the wood rests together, you actually feel as if you've had a couple of pints lol. Would definitely recommend a visit as it is set in a lovely square where you can have food and drinks on nice day and a church to visit.
Great little museum and free of charge donations encouraged. Whilst the exhibits inside are really interesting and eye opening from the village stocks, to the man and bear traps the building itself is a time machine and a perfect place to look out from and towards the medieval square or at from the square itself. A must-see followed by a drink or tea in one of the nearby pubs/almshouses.
What a gem! A very important medievel structure with a window back into history. Great little museum. The NT staff member was so knowledgeable about this lodge and the surrounding town. Well worth a visit.
A helpful lady will help you to understand this magnificent medieval house. The square outside is very beautiful.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A lovely picturesque & very quaint museum in a perfect location that is owned by The English Heritage, which is full of true historical facts & relics of this & the surrounding areas, I found it to be very informative & the staff seem to be very knowledgeable to answer any questions you may have of days gone by. There is free parking for an hour just outside, or nearby is Moorland Road carpark that is completely free for as long as you need.
Lots to see in this small lodge. Really well done and worth a visit if in the area.
A small National trust property. Charming, Tudor building. We spent about an hour wandering around. Lovely lady on the door. Free to national trust members and only a few pounds if not members so really good value for money.
Open again, very interesting collection of things not to mention the building itself is amazing to slowly wander around. Careful on the stairs!
Packed with items and information, this was an afternoon's browse on the corner of the main square with a selection of eateries on the doorstep and parking not too far away. The boys ran around madly to complete an activity then got a bit bored, so worthwhile overall. Learnt a bit about the history of the extended local area and generally.
I have been going to this museum since I was a small child, the history stories and discoveries it holds shaped my mind to explore the hidden aspects of this world. My father contributed to the artefacts their after finding a Roman soldier in our garden and I also took in many finds as a child, including Red Deer bones confirming that they had once roamed in our small town.
