Awful place my dad went missing a week after he got their staff didn’t even notice. Luckily he’s was found by car passing motorist but he’d already fallen over. We weren’t notified of other falls he’d had. Sadly he passed away about six weeks later. A safeguarding was raised but nothing came of it. I previously use to be a registered manager of a care home and this experience will haunt me for the rest of my life
All staff are friendly and very helpful, my grandmother stays here, well looked after and cared for. Occasionally clothes get missed placed but always get found again. All client's requirements are met and activities take place according to each client's capabilities. Hygiene is kept to a high standard, food is good quality. All the rooms are kept clean fresh and tidy. Bed linen is fresh and clean. Everything here is modern with keeping individual records on an iPad for clients members to see if they want to. Don't know why others are writing such negative posts as this care home does not deserve it.
Father admitted from DGH. August / Sept 2016 Fair health. Father diabetic - Avalon continued to give him a normal diet - no blood sugar tests . Even offered him sugar in his tea and brought him cake in front of his solicitor. Blood, faeces on walls, garage shelf unit for tv. Rust on commode chair, non useable tap. Left in bed for 3 weeks upon arrival, no physio. Dad had stomach pains. Supposed to have called Dr. on the Tuesday , on the sunday , no record of Dr's visit. Manager didn't even have a record or Dr's name. Only 4 members staff on Duty for whole home on weekend. High staff turnover. Non trained staff left to cope. Poorly run. This place should be closed down - they have made little or no improvement since CQC inspection. AVOID .
Very, very poor care, owner shouted at us when we complained. lots of unsafe and unhygenic issues, too much too list here. Individual staff were overworked or not trained enough, check the CQC report history....says it all !! Because of the result, one star is too generous, worthy of no stars in my opinion
I have dealings with this care home, and find them inefficient they were requested to send a communication on behalf of a patient which never happened, although they stated it had. The food is very poor, and personal items stored in their fridge go missing. Patient is left in soiled incontinence pads for long periods.
The staffs are very caring, very professional and everything is dealt with a smile. My mother is very comfortable here, much to our relief. They have given her great support when she needed it.
Worked here twice. A year later and I still haven't been paid. Edited by Rick Bonner. I certainly am real. I worked there as a self employed singer/entertainer. I am not fake, my father was the original.owner of 'Bonners' Music in Eastbourne. I am easy to look up on the internet and here is my own resumé: After a successful appearance on ITVs 'NEW FACES', Rick signed a management deal with showbiz impresario TONY LEWIS. From there RICK featured in over 60 MAJOR T.V. APPEARANCES and supported over 60 MAJOR INTERNATIONAL STARS, with successful live appearances at BIRMINGHAM HIPPODROME, LONDON INTERNATIONAL HILTON and aboard THE Q.E.II. The days I worked and wss never paid for were; Wed 2nd Dec 2015 Wed 6th Jan 2016, Wed 3rd Feb 2016
My gosh, just reading these reviews makes me shudder, especially as I'm looking for a care home currently for a loved one
I challenged a guy driving an avalon home van who parked in a disabled bay in wickes car park, at first he told me he was allowed to use the spot as he worked at a nursing home, when I told him that didn't qualify him to park there, he became very aggressive and claimed to have a mental condition, so I again pointed out to him that the disabled spots are for people with mobility difficulties at which point he told me to f*@k off and mind my own business, I then phoned the office number on the side of his van to complain, but the chap in the office didn't seem to care and was making excuses as to why he was parked where he was.
Worked there three months no support no moving and handling training but still was expected to toilet residents left on my own with more than the correct ratio of people and someone left so long their stoma exploded
