Located up steep stairs in the centre of Kirkcudbright, The Auld Alliance pitches "Scottish Cuisine with a French Influence" .  Food and wine excellent, service a bit slow, but the place was rammed. Will be back.

Very good food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is upstairs and is fairly small. I went with the chef's recommendations and was pleased with the quality of the offerings but could have easily demolished what the rest of my table ordered. Very pleasant evening. Well worth a visit.

Amazing food for such an unassuming place. the service was good too..but it really was the food that stole the show. the local beef was cooked to perfection the duck was wonderfully tender and the sea food was really fresh. Couldn't fault it.. at all!
