Went today, very beautiful, definitely recommend this and it’s history. Very great view as well
Very interesting place, small museum, I set 4 stars, just because of several rooms and attentions have been closed, and also in was not for free as others do in during pandemic, overall I really recommend to visit, it can be also not better then Bunratty castle, but anyway good enough
It looked good from the outside then it was dearer than Kilkenny castle so I didn't go in I don't know how you can price something in Athlone higher than Kilkenny
Enjoyed the experience the staff we encountered so friendly. Lots to read and see.
Visited this Castle today. The staff was great. The audio tour was really interesting and the art work was beautiful. Lots of things to entertain the whole family.
Really well laid out exhibition of the history of Athlone. Nicely interactive and self guided. Very interesting exhibit on Athlones native son Count John McCormack. Very welcoming staff
Very nice to visit. Interactive stuff for kids, plenty of interesting artefacts, costumes, to see Video presentation of history of castle. Nice views of city from the ramparts. Very good value for 10 euro per adult.
Amazing place! Plenty of interactive stuff to do, which is fun for adults too. One of the tour guides showed us some hidden gems, and even recommended a free exhibition just across from the castle
Good place to walk and enjoy the good weather.
Excellent views over the Shannon River and Athlone Town, friendly staff, very interesting exhibits and the mannekins made from metal were so cool. I learnt a lot from this visit and I beat my friend at chess here too so boom!
