A lovely, spacious and open area with some great open spaces, woodland, walking paths and a lake, overlooked by Astley Hall itself, which is currently in the middle of a grand restoration. To the side of it is a charming little courtyard with cafe and coffee shop that sells the most divine hot chocolate we have had in a long time.
Lovely place currently having some work done so will be having another visit for sure
Nice place for a walk and a coffee, good park for children. A few too many dog walkers for my taste.
Great place to go and visit would definitely recommend loads of history also the park is fantastic for kids even have a little pets corner . Cafe is nice clean and tidy and staff very polite food great.
Wonderful walk plenty for all to see and do
Super stately home near Chorley. Annual event of Astley Illuminated with great reenactment events, Victorian dancing in costume in the hall with beautiful decorations and lighting. Very atmospheric. Get there early, there are long queues and lots to see
Great for a walk with the grandson. Nice cafe. Was a photography exhibition on wildlife with many photos displayed outside.
The hall isn't actually open to public. It's undergoing major restoration.
Astley Hall used to be a family house of a local wealthy family. Well preserved interior gives some idea how the family lived and spend time back in the centuries. Must to visit while in Chorley. Entrance is free.
Astley Illuminated was a super event, Galliard Folk Dancers in the art gallery room, Sealed Knot reenactment outside firing cannon and muskets. Very well presented and done, free entry too. A very enjoyable experience and worth going to. Limited parking nearby but easy park and ride.
