I attended a one day conference here, it was in a conveniently situated location. No issues except for the uncomfortable seats, but that didn't detract from its nice location. You go through an archway into a serene courtyard, filled with pots of plants, which add to the atmosphere.
A great little coffee shop off the beaten track. Great coffee and music to chill out to on a weekend. Try some of the homemade cakes.
Saw folk singer Martha Tilston here with Matt Tweed on bass, bazouki and electric upright bass. Nathan Ball supported and did a guest appearance for 'we sang'. Such an amazing intimate sound and the set finished with the spinetingling 'silver dagger'.
Great venue, friendly staff. Small bar serving hot and cold drinks, also really nice cakes
Fabulous indoor market every Tuesday 10-4pm
Max, Lisa and Tim will let you live a real life experience! The team of the Assembly Rooms will never be forget! They treated us as a second family, providing everything we needed and helping and supporting us everytime they could. Food and drinks were super! Also the space. Leading different workshop inside has been amazing and comfortable! Above all, those guys are also marvellous touristic guides that can tell you everything about Glastonbury! Go and visit them. You need it!
The Assembly Rooms is such a wonderful space. Expect to walk in and feel the, healing, silence, and nurturing energy this space.
The brainchild of John Austin who donated the site and lived in Abbey House and owned Glastonbury Abbey before selling up for £30,000 and moving the America , the assembly rooms are historically notorious for being frequented by bohemians The first Glastonbury Festival began at 8.00pm on 5th August 1914, in the Assembly Rooms home of the first Rural Arts Festival in England Community Centre. Music Hall, cabaret, theatre, and dance Hall etc Built accordingly to the golden mean gives a ratio of 1.614 :: 1- the value of phi / Fibonacci the fractal that holds the structure of our space time reality together. Thrown together from pieces of the ancient Abbey stone, and a number of interesting features including a row of gargoyles at eaves level along each side of the hall, and the original stone flags and solid stone steps at the entrance . A lovely place whose walls speak history. A blessed place.
This is a Multi purpose space used mainly for craft stalls during the day with a lovely little cafe on the side which serves some lovely teas and coffee. We went on a Friday evening for a gig and it was great. Beer cans served in the cafe and a friendly vibe all round. Typical Glastonbury really. What a great little town.
The bad points: steep steps up to the front door. Inside the toilets are down a steep staircase. There are steps then upto the cafe and entertainment room. The good points: Staff are friendly and helpful. Cafe is great value. The entertainment room is nice and flat and large. The place is full of history which I found very interesting.
