Terrible! very poor selection of food, missing white wine in selection at least that day I went, pancake maker not refiled until customers asked app. 3 times, missing promised toppings, when asked promised to be brought out of other lounges, never came without apology, staff leaning on surfaces, talking to each other having good times, also leaving dirty cleaning cloths lying around in customer area, no table cleaning.. Allowing people to come in not dressed according to dress code smart casual people in football dressed allowed..definitely not worth the visit, experience or money!!
Read all the horrible reviews after booking and immediately regretted it, dreading a terrible experience - but no, here we are, sat watching the planes, and enjoying the lovely atmosphere. The staff are very polite, the food is fresh and lovely - there is a choice of fresh salads, soup, pasta and veggie curry which my husband says is very tasty, although not massively warm. Yes the decor is dated but it’s clean, the staff are diligent in clearing up and replenishing things. The only downside is the pancake maker isn’t working but there is plenty for my child to eat, including fresh fruit. All in all I am glad we booked and would use it again. It’s peaceful and relaxing, an excellent start to the holiday!
As a treat for my wife's first time flying and going abroad, I thought I would treat ourselves to a lounge at Birmingham Airport so we could relax in private luxury and await our flight out to Crete. I was hoping for good food, service and a private experience where we could relax. However, I was totally wrong. I booked Aspire South as it was right next door to the Jet2 gate and thought it would make our trip so much easier. However, on arriving at the airport and passing Aspire Lounge heading to the South Lounge, we were met with a closed lounge and no signs as to why. We enquired at the Jet2 stand nearby to be told this was a regular occurrence and to head to the other lounge that we had already passed. Why couldn't Aspire have put signs up to say South was closed? Easy, but they didn't, so we had to walk back to the other Aspire. Once there the chap in the reception checked us in saying there had been a "technical" problem at South. He showed us to a seat near the bar. The lounge was not very big and because the South was closed it was very busy. I went to the bar naively thinking all drinks were free as that is what you are told only to be told that premium drinks such as Captain Morgans Rum are charged - there are no signs telling you this at the bar so that was a bit embarrassing. I told the lady serving that I had already paid £80 so was not going to pay extra. She was not impressed. We chose the "free" drinks and went to get some food. It was just a few buffet items that were to be honest, no better than a back street cafe. Numerous times staff were asked to refill the items and the bread rolls. The Staff seemed lazy and not bothered about giving people the experience they had paid for. In conclusion a total waste of time and money. Will never pay for the Aspire lounge again. You will be better off going to the Wetherspoons. Rip off!
They get 2 because of the humour otherwise it really drops. The food quality, dirty carpet, dirty plates… but there is the humour of staff. When I asked about shower at the lounge and they were in shock with my question that I had another member come and explain that they don’t usually have it in airports here. It was hilarious, it made me smile and the bar woman was magnificent. Vegetarian options: There is vegetarian food
I have always booked a lounge usually escape lounges, I had to take a flight from Birmingham which I had never flown from before, so I booked a lounge. The aspire lounge is a massive disappointment and a total waste of money, unlike escape lounge that has all drinks and a good selection of food choices. The aspire lounge still asked you to pay for some drinks, after paying nearly £40 each I’m not sure how this can be justified. The food consisted of a choice of 2 pastries and for hot food when we arrived beans and bacon, my partner had to ask if there was any more food. The only thing good about this is it gets you out the hustle and bustle of the airport, of which to be honest id of rather just sat in my car in the car park for a bit longer. I travel a lot at least 6 times a year and will never use this lounge again, I’m also not a Karen who complains at everything, but I would hate for others to waste money and be disappointed like we have been.
Quite small lounge , not a big choice of food and must unfortunately admit the stuff wasn't very friendly , not sure if it was to everyone or just us because we are foreignersFood: 4/5
Staff were particularly slow in this venue at the bar. It is poor value when you have to pay for premium spirits when in No 1 or the Clubrooms you do not. Breakfast was average quality but ran out of hash browns. Overall I would be hesitant to visit this lounge again.Food: 3/5
Terrible experience, paid about £95 for 3 of us. The south lounge wasn’t even open when we arrived. We had no notifications about this. The poor staff in the other apire lounge were exhausted trying to accommodate all the extra people. We had to sit on stalls in the end. The food wasn’t anything special, cheap dishes and not much left because of the amount of people. Staff were friendly and doing their best but clearly tired and fed up. Don’t book, it’s not worth the money , not a great start to an holiday and we will never book again.
This Aspire lounge sets the example of how good should be served. The food seems to be made with good care and is very tasty, I really enjoyed eating here! There where only few other visitors not too busy on a Tuesday noon and was surprised with the high amount of reserved seats, that didn't got taken during my 2+ hour stay. It's got a nice view and you can see the airplane and runways. It's not top of the bill but it's pretty good and I loved staying there! I wish the Amsterdam Aspire lounge would come over to visualize how good looks like :-
A welcome oasis of peace in what can be a jam packed noisy departure lounge. Not sure it's really good value for the food - the breakfast which I enjoyed : bacon, scrambled eggs sausages, & baked beans. Bread to toast, croissants etc. Various fruit juices and fizzy drinks. Breakfast cereals and yoghurt, coffee etc. Serve yourself. But for the peace and quiet its worth it. Pleasant friendly staff. Note you have to book in advance via their website. It's not possible to arrive and pay at the entry. Opens at 4am. Would definitely use again.
