About

At Asmara we provide quality food and friendly service at all times

Story

Muhammad Abdul Karim has been in the indian food trade since 1970. He started as a waiter, then his first business he opened was in Washington 'Raj Mukut' a indian takeaway. Then sold that on and opened 'Pan Ahar Tandoori' in Blyth 1984. While he was running the business he took partnership in another takeaway in Boldon 'Dakha Tandoori'. He has also opened the 'Deedar Caterers & Co' in 1997 which is also in Blyth.

I would like to say my father has the experience which is needed to be successful in this sort of trade. Now his eldest son, Muhammad Mazharul Karim and my father have joint forces with 'Asmara Indian Cuisine' which opened on the 12th November 2008.

Our intention is that we want to bring back the dining experience which I think is missing at a lot of other restaurants. At Asmara I want it to be slow paced as food takes a little bit longer as most of our dishes aren't pre made especially our signature dishes. We emphasize quality and not quantity and only using grade A ingredients, which I believe it does make a difference on taste and texture. We have quite an extensive menu, dishes that are only exclusive to Asmara and then the traditional dishes. We advise people to book in advance especially for Friday and Saturday nights to save from disappointment. We can't do delivery service yet, but customers receive 10% discount on collection.

So please give us a try, children are welcome and we cater for large parties as the reataurant has 46 seats. And we all at Asmara look forward to see you soon.

:: Please note : Friday & Saturday evenings get very busy so please try to Book. ::

Thank You

Waited hour plus which is fair but they forgot half the meal as in no rice with the curry ..I then call up .. they was bit enjoyed I called they offered to send another korma out after I asked they had the check to say you can microwave the food up... I said I don't wanna pay 47 pounds to microwave my dinner up as you forgot the rice .... any way withen 30 mins they turn up ... tray of korma sauce no chicken in it atall none ... Never order again uve lost a family of customers for being so so tight an you forgot rice its your fault an you begrudge a fresh meal for just under 50 pounds .. Jog on
Another superb night of great Indian food, service & atmosphere. There seemed to be new dishes on the menu & what we had was absolutely delicious & well cooked. Such a treat to come here - our favourite without a doubt & as it was full many others think so too - keep up the good work Asmara!Food: 5/5
It's upstairs above The Post Office pub. Not a bad meal, very smart waiting area. Dining area clean and tidy... was quite noisy due to there being a party group.. but that's not the restaurants fault. Vegetarian options: Available but not exciting. Parking: Opposite large public carpark.
Hadn't booked and was very busy,Friday evening. Waited for a table in the lounge area, which is really nicely done. Great service and excellent food. Staff were attentive and friendly. Going try the Buffet Night and take friends. Thank you, really enjoyed our meal.Food: 5/5

Went for a birthday meal and I can honestly say it was one of the nicest Indians I have ever had.
Takeaway service excellent, ready on time, food delicious as usual. Parking: Large car park next to restaurant
We ordered 2 Thursday night specials. The curry's were perfect, everything else was spot on. Excellent portion sizes too. 100% score from us, 100% recommended by me Food: 5/5
Went here while visiting Blythe and the surrounding areas. We were sat immediately, then left for a while without having ordered drinks or pickle tray. The waitress was very friendly, and took our order. Pickle tray was nice, but the meals themselves weren't great. We ordered chips, but got roast potatoes? My curry was very bland, and tasteless. The staff were very attentive however asking multiple times if we were ok or needed anything else. The toilets upstairs were clean but incredibly hot and humid, felt like walking into the kitchen. We thought it was a bit expensive for the quality unfortunately. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible
