A local indoor marketplace for mostly fresh meat, cheese and fish. There’s few vegetables and fruits shops outside. A paid parking just outside the market. You can use paybyphone app to pay the parking.nThere is a Barclays local office inside the market. Be aware of booking an appointment for Barclays as there is only one person serving and you might have to wait hours.
The indoor market is a traditional mix of food, other goods, and cafés. Always seems thriving.nThe outdoor market varies each day. Tuesday and Sunday are flea market days. You're sure to find something to tempt you, at very reasonable cost.
Fantastic selection of stalls, can pick up everything you need. Fresh fruit and veg, bread, meat, cheese aswell as getting toys, clothes and other essentials. Excellent places to eat at reasonable prices. All stall holders very friendly and welcoming.
Several people said to us that Ashton Market isn't as good as it used to be. I can't make the comparison since this was my first trip here. I enjoyed it.nnThere was a good variety of shops and kiosks and lots of stalls outside. It was such a hot day well over 30c that we didn't linger outside. Indoors was somewhat cooler, but of course no A/C. Still we had a good browse around.nnWe spent quite a while at Ashton Farmhouse Deli - I could almost do my weekly shop there except for produce. What a selection! We got everything from a butter pie OMG, was it good! and a cherry pie to lemon curd and cheese. Excellent quality and reasonable prices.nnWe also shopped some basic kiosks. I picked up a small handbag for 5 quid hey, if it doesn't last long, small loss. We did some windowless ha ha shopping - there's a Moroccan stall that has so much neat stuff, an Asian shop, places with shoes, slippers, clothing...nnWe ate a quick lunch at Florence Cafe - highly recommend! A selection of toasties and wraps, plus assorted other dishes. For seven pounds we got a wrap huge!, an egg and tomato toastie, plus two drinks. And the servers were helpful and polite.nnSo I'm not sure what people mean when they say Ashton Market isn't what it used to be. There were several empty stalls, but still plenty of shops to browse. I'd have given it five stars, but with the empty kiosks I thought the rating should be a bit lower.nnEven so, I highly recommend Ashton Market.
Great little indoor Market including varies butchers, bakers, clothes stores had a hour in the market filled up a couple of shopping bags of goodies.
