Disappointing Bank Holiday VisitnnWith temperatures soaring on Bank Holiday Monday, we were looking for somewhere for the family and the dog! to cool down while staying at a local caravan site. The splash pad at Ashbourne Park seemed like the perfect choice, so we packed up our things and headed over.nnFinding free roadside parking was a bonus, and the park itself appeared busy and welcoming, with lots of families arriving throughout the morning. Children were excitedly dressed in their swimming costumes, eagerly waiting for the splash pad to start. Unfortunately, there was no information displayed about operating times or any notices explaining delays or closures.nnAs more and more families gathered, the water never came on. After waiting until 12:30 pm, we reluctantly decided to leave disappointed. Before setting off, we hoped to use the toilet facilities, only to find they were closed as well. There was also nowhere nearby to buy an ice cream or cold drink without heading into town, and we struggled to find any public toilets there either.nnIt's such a shame, as the park itself looks lovely and has great potential for a family day out. However, on one of the hottest and busiest days of the year, the lack of operating splash facilities, closed toilets and absence of information left many families frustrated. A simple notice explaining the situation would have gone a long way.nnA disappointing experience that sadly didn't live up to expectations.
Visited here for the Saturday morning parkrun. Plenty of paid parking in the adjacent supermarket carpark and only £1.50. Parkrun was well attended, and is a very flat 3 looper, a lot on grass, so great on a dry day. Probably tricker when it rains!
Good park on the edge of the town. Some walk ways but not a sold path all the way round. With a mobility scooter we had to go out and back at different parts. It's a beautiful park with lots to see. The little bridge over the water is so picturesque. Nice places to sit and relax. Plus a kids play area good for families.
Brilliant park lots to see and do a small cafe playground big with lots on there 4 big football pitches with goals in a bamington pitches a fishing pond but you need a licence a massive war memorial on the front brilliant lovely park lots of flowers and trees
Have visited here a couple of times as ideal place to meet up with friends. Good playground with the added bonus of a water play area, which was popular on the hot day we visited. There is free parking nearby, including on road parking 2 hour limit but short walk to the town centre, and parking.
