My partner and I placed a click and collect order for 5:30 and we selected “I’m here” as per the email instruction we received. We followed the signs for grocery collection and waited around the back for 20 minutes and phoned the number on the sign which is the store number and placed the extension 220 over 7 times and received no response. We went into the shop to the customer service desk and were then told “You’re supposed to come in and tell us you’re here” despite nothing being noted on any signs to indicate this or on our email. We’ve previously done click and collect at both Tesco and Morrisons who were quick and simple and provided the service that was indicated within their email instruction's. Only positive was the young man who brought out our shopping was very cheery and lovely.
This review is about rigidity, trust—and kindness.nnI arrive at the self-checkouts at 10:00 closing time, granted, after having found my last item in a small laundry list of items I'd spent 20 minutes trying to find—for my only, and last night at a friend's house visiting from Canada.nNone of the self-checkouts were open. I can understand there being no cashiers—it's closing time. I get it. But no self-checkouts seems pretty unnecessarily binary.nPanicked, I left all but the jug of water I had at the checkout, and looked around for an employee to hopefully unlock one—instead, the security guard finds me, and shouts over to usher me out of the building. I'm not gonna argue with him—but I definitely will feel awkward about the situation, and I did.nHe goes on to ask me if I'd heard the closing notices—again, what do I say? I got to the self-checkout lanes at exactly 10:00, just seconds after I found the last and primary item. I didn't expect them to all be closed like that—pretty much every other store I've been to has some leniency, and I don't like to waste people's time.nI tell him I did hear them. I apologize to him, and leave.nnThere is now a basket full of goods from around the store sitting at the cash, that someone will have to spend their time either putting back, or dealing with otherwise. It seems to me that I could've saved everyone time by just being able to check myself out—if only there were even just one self-checkout lane open. Why close all of them with such an unforgiving deadline? Is trust in the area this bad?nI honestly didn't expect it to be so rigid—it took two minutes for the guard to notice me. I could've finished my business, and been gone in one. Was rigid enforcement really saving anyone time? I apologize to whoever has to deal with that basket; some of the items are from opposite ends of the store.nnIt must be said—I appreciate that the Tesco nearby was open, but didn't appreciate spending an extra 30 minutes trying to do what I set out to do, and then showing back up to his place winded over the longer walk, and grumpy over the fact that I didn't have the primary item I'd set out for, and had to settle for what proved to be a crummy stand-in that we well—he made the best of the primary item was Fentiman's Curiosity Cola—if anyone was curious; the stand-in didn't come close in taste, but was at least still naturally sweetened; I had a hard time shaking the grumpiness, given the appreciable difference that just a little bit of leniency could have made--especially considering I'll be giving parting words to him in the morning.nnMy thanks to the guys stocking shelves who helped me find the Fentiman's—sorry for bugging you. I know it's a small thing, but you guys pulled through, and you didn't have to. It was kind of both of you :nnThat was my story—thanks for reading.
It's Asda! A supermarket what more can be said!nSells everything, cheaper than Tesco but not as good as Aldi!nHas a good range of goods and plenty of staff and tills so queues are really a problem.nVisit after 6pm and you'll find there's yellow tickets items which as there due near use by date can be as cheap as 10p! Not bad if using that night.nSo to recap not a bad supermarket to visit!!
I have just received my asda online order and I'm very happy, my driver was Andrew and he was so nice he even helped me with my shopping bags if I was that man's boss I'd give him a raise
What has happened to Asda /Irvine. This has been going on for a while. The 4 pint bottles of milk was dated 4 days ahead, usually it's a week. No price for product on the shelf. Sometimes a product on a reduced price scans at original price. Half empty shelves,. This store has really went downhill.
