Security are a joke, I was asked to turn out my pockets as I was suspected of shoplifting, I had a valid receipt and she even watched me paying for the items I apparently shoplifted. I was told to leave and not come back. Sorry to say but it is my local Asda so I will be returning as I did nothing wrong,
After reading through a few reviews about security and how they stalk you around the shop, no wonder I had that experience today with myself having additional needs,i already feel overwhelmed visiting places on my own but this was shocking, I went into the store just after 12 today, from the get go, I had security watching over me while I was checking out the computer section, walking back and forth checking the aisle I was in, and then standing at the fire exit, I went to the medicine aisle to pick some things up and then a another staff member sat and watched over me and they were communicating via their headsets while playing around with a scanner, continued to walk around the shop getting products till I got to the counter and the shock on the face when the scanners never went off was comical, You may have alot of thefts within the store just because someone dressed or even looked different doesn't mean they will steal.
The customer is always wrong!! I went into the cafe and saw at least 3 flies buzzing around the tables. One fly pictured landed on my toast so that went in the bin. The manager James pictured was very rude to me and made me feel like I was a liar and not welcome in the store just because I made a complaint. If you make any big purchases make sure the ink hasn't ran out of the receipt machine as the staff don't check. I was in the store 15 minutes before closing time and a member of staff very rudely told me to leave the store as they were closing soon. The stores delivery van pictured blocked 2 other delivery vans in with his terrible parking and things got a little bit toxic between them. I'm an ex employee who helped open the new Peterlee store over 20 years ago and it was a great place to work back then. I've also worked in the old Peterlee store and Benton in Newcastle. These days the staff seem to be working in a toxic environment as they just don't seem happy to help in general. Some of the staff seem really canny and helpful but there isn't many of them.
Huge Asda has not just food but a Cafe, loads of clothes and homeware. Beware of the parking, the one under the shop is privately owned, I noticed Asda have been doing that because the one in South Tyneside does the same but makes you pay straight away. This car park gives you 3 hours free which is ok at the moment until they decide to change that so always check the signs. The car park above a staff member said is Asda owned and is free. The cafe is nice but the toilets only has baby changing and disabled so you have to use them. Toilets with male and female are at the bottom floor. That is my only complaint which needs improving. Great store for shopping in overall.
Security in this place always offer a good laugh. Stare at you and follow you around the entire shop and always give funny looks, if ever called out on this play stupid. Well I say play but the lights aren’t turned on with many people in peterlee I would suggest hiring proper security because the overweight dumb people you hire would only stop a person shoplifting if they sit on them. God forbid they run out because they’d be screwed.
I visited the peterlee store on the 14th December with my partially disabled partner hoping to have the use of a scooter but although 4 where available not one was working so she relied on leaning on a trolley for our shopping even so we spent we spent 200 pounds but could have been more enjoyable
Terrible shop worst Asda I’ve ever been in not from the area recently moved here from Blaydon use to the one at the Metrocentre very disorganised loads of low stock for stuff staff hid baskets sometimes can never find them shopping bags they walk round with them compete joke and some staff have an attitude at the self check Outs
They move customers service together with cigarettes and lottery counter which is always a massive queue if you order any shopping for collection from the store you can’t go directly to the customer service now just to said I here to collect my food order you have to stand in that big queue which is a lot of time right to the main entrance…why can’t they just use the side bit on the counter for online food collection I take 30 seconds of their time just to ring the warehouse and tell them your here for your food ……badly thought out …Asda
Went shopping to Peterlee Asda to be told at 3.45 time to go , but they take our money, we stand ages at tills, the staff moan about the place in front of customers , and they hassle you yo leave at 3.45pm. Asda not a good place in my view
Great for food & clothing and quite a bit more staff really helpful and friendly and overall great selection and service.
