Really enjoyable afternoon. Lovely surroundings and really enjoyed the birds. Particularly enjoyed the little bird swimming pool with glass sides. We were treated to an underwater swimming display by one very active duck. Beautiful. Nice cafe and friendly staff. Easy to access for my husband's powered wheelchair. Playground: Noticed they had a picnic area and children's playground which look new.
It is always such a lovely place to visit rain or shine. There are excellent paths, and plenty of hides to shelter in if it rains. There is a lot of redevelopment work going on at the moment, and my favourite bridge has been dismantled. There is always plenty to see, and the birds and ducks change depending on the season.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Fabulous place to visit especially if you like photography. Great opportunities to get up close to many varieties of birds and loved the Pelicans!! Nice restaurant overlooking the lake offering tasty menu. Easy to spend a good few hours at any visit. Dog-friendliness: No dogs allowed. Picnic area: Benches around for picnics.
It's good but compared with a normal nature reserve it's a bit zooish. However, the bird hides are very good, and eventually as the sun was rapidly disappearing I managed to get some pics of a Kingfisher. Had to use a load of exposure compensation, hence the very light background. Also saw lovely grey wagtail and the elusive water rail. Plus a pair of peregrine falcons on the adjacent hill. The visitor centre was good, staff friendly and helpful, and I loved the vegan pasties even though I'm an omnivore. Playground: Looked great for young kids Restrooms: Clean and well equipped
It was nice. Lovely walk, however the restaurant had very little choices of food , most of the food were "out of stock" and it is very highly priced, it would probably nicer to visit in a warmer weather , we could not see many of the birds and animals , the bird exhibition was closed . The gift shop just by the entrance is also very highly priced.
Magnificent! We really enjoyed the day we spent here. I'd suggest a couple more staff talks / fixed time things to go see/do would be good. The staff were really good, whether that was in the restaurant/cafe area, the reception, the shop, the keepers, etc. I highly recommend. It also feels nice to know you are helping conservation efforts worldwide. Picnic area: Lots of lovely places to eat outside
Nice place when the weather is good. Restaurant does not have enough choices of food and they ran out pretty quickly of hot food. I would take packed lunch and drinks as the food is bit pricy and next to non existence. Also you can not use sitting area inside when the weather is bad. Please click on like if this was helpful.
Lovely afternoon, be aware some areas are closed off due to avian flu and others areas being worked on . It would be great if they had rubbish bins in other seating areas on the trail or in hides & not just at the beginning & end of trail. Many thanks Visited onWeekday
Spent a lovely day here recently and cannot fault it. There are many birds to see within many different environments with both wild and captive. The pathways are wide with plenty of places to stop and view along with bird hides dotted around the site. The cafe does a nice latte with also a good choice of food. Will definitely be revisiting.
A great place to visit, so interesting. Easy to park, flat access for everyone everywhere, great cafe, very knowledgeable and helpful staff snd volunteers , and also great bird life. Take the boat ride too , you get to see the reed beds from a goose’s eye point of view . Very worthwhile , and a wonderful place. Herons, ducks in so many various types, hawks, hobbies, kingfisher etc. This is a charity worth supporting , it’s a good idea to become a full member. Go for it!
