A fascinating squat pile of Gothic architecture which in exterior appearance is quite unlike any other Cathedral I am familiar with. Sitting atop the hill overlooking and adding perfectly to the skyline of what is already a picture perfect location, the Cathedral is one of the first things you will notice as you approach. I make a point of visiting with my daughter every year in the run up to Christmas. It is just a very welcoming, calming and beautiful space to inhabit for a few of the quite moments of your life. The perfect antidote to some of the more hectic aspects of modern living.
Free to go in and wallet around. Beautiful Cathedral inside, not overly big but good to spend 30+mins in if you just want to look. Worth checking online what time services etc are so it's definitely open to walk around at the time you want to go. I didn't see a toilet so not sure if there was one. There is a small gift shop there that is usual price for these kind of shops but not overly expensive so we did buy something, especially as it didn't cost to go in. Parking can be had in the road outside for free. We have been twice, once on a summer's day and once on a quieter autumn day and both times we managed to find parking.nIf you enjoy looking round beautiful churches then this is definitely worth a visit and the town of Arundel is a few mins walk down the hill and there is another old church over the road you can also visit. Definitely worth a stop off.
Fabulous and free to enter Gothic-style Catholic cathedral. A must to stop in and marvel at. The Rose window is exceptional, and take time to appreciate the carved saints above the main portico.
Loved the turrets as it gave Catherdral different look from our more traditional ones. Lovely high fan vaulted nave more like a French design. If visiting the castle then worth popping in here too, walking distance.
We visited during the flower festival. The building is already so beautiful, but was even more enhanced with all of the gorgeous flower displays. You could tell that so much work and thought had gone into each and every design. Entry is free, but they do ask for donations to help fund the show and cathedral understandably. During the flower festival there were also lots of stalls around.
